haha. so, everyone on this forum knows so much about cars. i really like doing stuff to my car, but i'm still such a noob that i'm limited to simple stuff. How did all of you guys learn everything? I know i could go to like a tech college (i'm about to be a senior in high school), but i'm not trying to be a "real" mechanic, if you know what i mean. will i always be a noob? :( haha

Lol. Man i hear what your saying. I recently graduated high school. Most of the stuff you can learn from just looking at posts, or by just reading more information about your car.

Read, Read, Read. If some one asks a question and YOU cant answer it, do the legwork and learn about the issue. Ive been here almost 2 years, and knew nothing about my car. I wanted to learn and all I did was research. If I wanted to tackle a job, I found out how to do it, and got my hands on it.

Its just a matter of reading, doing, and repeating. Reading helps, doing is more beneficial, and doing it again is the most help. I can take all of the interior out of my car in 30 mins, because I have done it 20 times.

Best experience is hands on. I work at a subaru dealership as a tech and I have learned a huge amount of knowledge. Its been alot better than school as a matter of fact. But im still learning about the b series motors and integras because im new to these. Like everyone else said just read and read and go in with your head high about learning.

Cars in general I've learned as I've gone. I never had money to pay someone to fix things for me, so I've always had to do it myself. If I can't figure something out I usually google search until I have an answer i'm satisfied with. If it's a specific vehicle I am almost always on a forum for it. My teg for example, i'm here.

I bought my teg about a month ago, with no knowledge of Integra's or Honda's at all. Reading these forums, and asking questions every time i'm stuck has REALLY got a lot of information into me. I think this is one of those good forums that you won't get flamed for asking a question, which is good.

My advise to you; buy a manual for your car, ask lots of questions, read lots! You can learn a ton just by reading others questions and the answers they receive and then when you run into that problem you'll know the answer! :)

Good luck, your on the right road, and in the right place.

I knew very little about cars also. All the advice I tell people is stuff that comes from online mechanic articles, forum articles, books, DIY articles(Do It Yourself), and tons of websites deticated to Hondas.

Wanna learn? Read a noobies question...than google that question, YOU learn about it, than tell him. You learn, he/she learns.

I agree 100% READ, READ, READ. You can't stop reading. A person that's willing to learn is a person that will keep the info and never forget it.

I don't know about you, but it usually is a bit of "Do it yourself" mixed with books. If I just read a book, I'll absorb like 2% of the knowledge. If i'm doing it while reading it, I'll remember it better.
