Hahaha i REALLY wanted that car, but 10k was a bit much for my high-schoolers-first-car-budget.... Lol, no help from the folks here ha, They were very hard set that if i couldn't pay for it by myself, i couldn't have it, but dont think i went down without a fight tho :roll: lol i swore to them i'd pay the dang thing off, still a no lol, owell.....

Police are forgiving because there are actually cameras in the mountains too. Nagano was one of the worst to drive through. I had to watch my speed everywhere
In the cities there's a camera every 500 meters or so.I'm glad I'm back in Niigata. Here where I live there are no cameras. So I can drive as fast as I like.
I've sped past a patrol car at up to 30KPH over the limit and they don't even look twice at me.There's a low level of crime so you don't need to worry about vandals or thieves.
Actually you don't see them much at all. Since I've been here i've seen 4 other ITRs, that's all. Other sports cars I've seen barely make it into double digits which is why when I was buying, the guy I dealt with was real petrol head and he said he ain't helped someone source a sports car for a very long time and it's gonna be the most fun he's had in ages. Apparently sports cars are a dying breed here and a lot of kids are more into playing with their phones than cars.
If you're thinking about moving I'd suggest working for a year or two here first before deciding. It's a good place to live temporarily if you need a change but this country is surprisingly strict. Freedom in a western country vs in Asia is very different. Myself and friends over here all say the same thing, we'll move back to Aus to settle down because Japan is run by bureaucrats. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Here's my last road trip for the summer.
Something I've wanted to do before coming was to drive all the Initial D locations in Gunma. So for all you Initial D fan, this is for you.
I've done them in the following order: Akagi, Myogi, Usui and lastly Haruna (real name) / Akina (name used in the anime)
Day 1, driving through the inland:
entering Gunma prefecture:
immediately greeted by twisties which is a nice welcome:
nearing Akagi:
climbing Akagi:
what it looks like in autumn, not my photo, taken by another fan. Easier to see where you're going in the fall.
Lake Akagi @ the peak:
Akagi shrine on a island in the middle of the lake, here's a walk through:

next stop, Usui touge. This parking lot is where Iketani tries to pickup. Also the touge restaurant which appears various times in the anime.

before going down though, gonna go beyond this point which the anime rarely shows:
lake Haruna at the peak, can't drive onto the lake shore anymore though, they blocked it off and you gotta walk after entering the new parking lot:
heading back down:
that water tower, the 2 buildings in front have been knocked down though
it's a popular place at this time of the day, these 2 guys came flying through so I jumped in my car and joined them.
Day 4, before going home I wanted to find the tofu store. This isn't my photo, taken by another fan but it's no longer there:
went up and down Akina to record a few vids. Here's my ghetto in-car setup:
yes I did get footage of downhill and uphill of all 4 locations but I'll upload them to youtube when I come back to Aus. Probably not a good idea while I'm still living in Japan.
