Anyone ever done a Speed Ventures event? How does it work

I run with SV quite a bit. It's really simple. You buy your event, print your tech sheet, and go. First timers should have an instructor. Also, you should sign up in White group.

I just ran Buttonwillow CW 13 two weeks ago and it cost me $190. They jacked up the BW prices lol.

SV doesn't tech cars, the owner does. You just need to print the tech form from their website and fill it out. You turn it in when you check in. Also, you need a helmet - preferably Snell SA rated '05 but M rated will do as well. Also, I suggest renting a transponder so you can get lap times.

Be careful w/ the Blox rear LCA's, the bushings don't usually hold up to track duty.

If you haven't gotten tires yet I suggest Yokohama S.Drives. Very forgiving and will more than hold their own on the track, and will also expose ALL of your weak points. If you already have tires, it's all good.

I'm probably going to this event as well, so see you out there hopefully :thumbs up

We're running Streets of Willow in a few weeks too. If you can make it out to that one you should, SOW is a much better beginner course than BW.
Where is SOW located @? I was planning on buttonwillow just because it's fairly close to where i'm located :) Oh and No i'm running fail-spec DORAL tires 185/60/R14's, I need to buy a set of 15's and tires, but I don't have enough money to buy all this stuff before then hahaha But pretty much all I need is a set of wheels & tires and then i'm good to track!

But damn $190 is a lot! plus i've still got to buy more parts too, fuuuuuuck.... And I'm not entirely sure if i really want to track on my current wheel/tire setup....

I highly recomend doing auto x first to get a feel of a track day at the very least. its EXTREMLY intimidatiing to go out and do a track day by your self. so holla at me at auto x or SV ill go with you
Yeah I still want to do an autocross or two in monteray at that place you said they do it, but damn my tires are POS'! :(

So you are and Daniel serious about going on July 31st?
I really want to go, gotta start saving my pennies, $190 is a lot of coin to drop on a track day :( Not even sure if I can afford that haha

Streets of Willow is on the Willow Springs Int'l Raceway grounds, aka Palmdale. It's a lot farther away from you than Buttonwillow. Button is a great track and if we all go out together, Matt and I can give you pointers on the lines, throttle points, brake points, and you're technique so you should be ok :thumbs up

Plus my friend Steve will be coming (hopefully) and he's a driving guru lol.

Tires and brakes are by far the most important upgrades you can make. Get a set of S.Drives, they're more than capable tires that will show you all of your mistakes, but are forgiving. Plus, they're pretty cheap.

I've never done an autocross in my life. Just touge every week and track days. Autocross driving techniques and car setup are actually quite a bit different than track techniques and setups. Obviously the principals are similar, but in practice there are differences.

Shit, I want to go with my auto. I need to get out to Cali
Do it!
