I lost to a Pathfinder, Help!

I recently became the proud owner of a 2000 Acura Integra GSR. I was leaving my school parking lot this afternoon when a buddy challenged me to a drag in his 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. I was smoked. This shouldnt happen in an Integra. That car is completly stock accept for a few body accessories. What can I do to ensure this never happens again. Keep in mind I am a relative noob to cars and the like. Eager to learn though.

Ya its all stock I really want to do some work on it this summer. Everyone keeps yelling turbo at me but i'm not sure what to do with that :p I am an uber noob with this thing... And yes learning to drive would help.

And it wasn't awful. I lost by a length maybe but still. His beat up Nissan beat a car that should school him.

Yea prolly shouldve won... And yea turbo's are awesome but I would learn about some stuff first to be sure you could handle it [not trying to be an ass but if your not used to driving fwd with power it can get sketchy quick lol ]

Just curious, when were you shifting? rpms

I plan on boosting my car either this summer or next summer... cant wait

Being the dumb ass i am... I was shifting around the red. Though off the line I started at the idle of 1500 I didnt rev at all. I think I just need to practice/ advice on power shifting and accelerating faster.

No real advice other than go n out and driving more... Thats what I did/do... However, if your not used to it, you will prolly go through a clutch [i did, but everywhere I went for prolly 8-10k miles all I did was speed shift and rip though the gears lol - very hard on car]

o and shifting at redline isnt a bad thing.. however I would reccommend 75-7600 as thats when you get out of the power band [so iver heard from peps]

i rev right to red, actually a little higher. bumped up redline with new ecu. easiest way to learn your car is to drive and beat the hell out of it. i learned like that. but if your drag racing i suggest launching your car around 4000rpm, that way you have some power but you wont spin too much off the line. ive also heard to shift around 76-7800 in a gsr.

no the stock fuel cut was at like 8200, i set it at 8500 just for drag for just a lil bit more in each gear. i have a launch at four wich my friend said he lauched at good. i havent been able to try it out succesfully yet.

You should start with learning how to drive and learning the basics of how a car works :thumbs up

You should've won, I think you just don't know what you're doing yet. But that's ok, time to learn! If you develop your throttle control, you can launch a GSR at 5500 - 6000 RPM no problem. With good shifts and good throttle control, you should walk that Pathfinder.

No, that loss shouldn't happen but w/e live and learn. I've beat WRX's, older Mustang GT's, B-swapped EF's, etc. on only a mildly-built GSR. I've even held within a length to my friend's 2g AWD DSM at the strip ( when it was mildly built with a 16g lol). And I don't even drag race! Circuit racing FTW :D

You need to practice a lot, and hang out with good drivers who know what they're doing. A win against a '95 Pathfinder should be all in the technique, even if he/she was using AWD.

BTW you should be shifting at 8 grand, it's totally safe. Peak power on the GSR is 7600 RPM. Shit, I'll run mine up to 8300 at the track if I need to eek out that extra bit. F*ck fuel cut haha
