Well another day passes, and more work is done. Started out with my CMC. Drained the fluid from the reservoir, unhooked the hose and caught the remaining fluid on some towels. Unscrewed the fitting on top, then wen under the dash.

I had cut some wires when pulling the dash and so I pushed the spaghetti to the side. The nuts werent the easiest to get to, but not terribly difficult either. Unscrewed them, popped the pin out, and slid the old guy out and brought the new one in. Havent bled the clutch yet, nor did I remember to bend the cotter pin, so I need to do that tomorrow before I forget...
New v Old

Then I got to the dash. I wanted to take the heater core out, and did not realize the headache I was getting myself into. I drained the coolant and pulled my intake off to get better access to my heater hoses. The clamps were spun away from me, and I could not contort nor get a set of pliers in to get a hold of them to get the hose off. No problem, I can go through the dash and just snap the old one off.

This is where things start to suck. I have a rough time getting the blower unit out. Turns out the AC unit partially covers it. Now I need to remove the AC to get the central vent system out. Guess what? I now need to drain the refrigerant out of the AC system. But wait... I drained the coolant? and I have my alarm wires strewn about? Yep. Sucks for me.

So I changed gears. Got some food because I hadnt eaten in quite some time, and got to the wiring. I started with this, and have made quite a bit of progress. I have everything done, except extending a couple sensors to the brain, which has been relocated. The wires need to be either loomed up, or wrapped in tape. (I think I will fork out some $ for some looming...)
Sorry no after shot.

More progress has been made on my alarm harness. There is one more plug I need to extend, and two wires that need to be extended and connected. Before they were tapped into the dash harness, and when I removed the dash I needed to cut the wires. Now I am trying to find a location to tap them into on the main harness, so I can have it together prior to replacing the dash.

One wire was tapped into a red wire with a silver/black stripe. I have come to the conclusion that this is the 12v that runs to the cigarette lighter (power with ignition at on position). The other is a little trickier. It is a green wire that was tapped into, green with two silver dots. Im not sure what this wire is hooked to, and cant test for voltage because A. the dash is out, along with its harness, and B. The battery is out.

I went through the Honda manual, and could find where my wire leads to. My next idea is to find a wiring diagram for my alarm, and see where it is supposed to go.

No black conversion for me just yet ;)

Im happy with my tan interior at the moment, though I would like some new rear seats... mine are full of stains.

PACKAGE IS IN!!!!!!!!

Pleasantly surprised when I got home after a busy day of work. Didnt manage to extend any other wires on my alarm, because I had some errands to run. Take a look!

*Picture Deleted* (Its a huge box of dynamat)

The big box is heavy. It should be considering its 36 sq ft. of dynamat. Each square foot is about a pound I believe.

Well I was unable to do any work the other day, but today was BEAUTIFUL! And I was stuck working until 5:30.

No worries, it was still nice and warm when I got home, and I worked until about 9:00 PM. I was pretty excited when I was done. The previous owner, or whoever did the alarm install, tapped into 2 wires in the dash harness. This is unacceptable as I am doing this with the dash out. That means finding new wires on the main harness to go from.

After much searching on my electrical diagrams in my Honda manual, I found the right wires to run off of, and soldered some wires on. I have it all loomed up, and just have to extend one more plug, my LED to show the alarm is armed, and a couple grounds. Also, I clipped off my valet switch, and another on-off switch soon after I got the car. Im going to find out if I even need these guys to bring them back in. If not, they stay off. (havent had any problems yet, so I will probably leave it as-is)

I do not have any pictures, SORRY! because this is a security thing and I dont want people to know where my wires are ran. I do have to say, it is MUCH nicer than before, very happy with my work.

Once the wiring is finished, Im re-attaching my rad hoses, filling her partway up, and driving to a repair shop to have them bleed my AC system (so I can continue to get to the heater core). When the heater core is out, and done, I will knock out the Dynamat, and during that process, the wheel bearing.

Again not much work got done this weekend. I went up to West Virginia to go to Snowshoe mountain resort with my friends. I had a GREAT time. Only my second time boarding (first was when I was 14), and didnt have much trouble getting the hang of things. I started out on the greens, moved up to the blues at the end of the first/beginning of the second day, and even went off some jumps/down a black on the second day.

Today I did get a little work done on the car though. Finished extending the last couple plugs on my alarm. Only need to hook up some grounds and the alarm will be finished. Then I need to hook a couple heater hoses up, fill her up with coolant, and drive to get the A/C drained. Then the real work can begin.

More progress on the car. I finished my wiring with the could of grounds I had. I may re-wire the valet button, but for now it stays off. I extended the last of my plugs and set everything in the car. Hooked up the battery, and locked the car. :) Needless to say Im excited something is finished.

I also put the dash back in, the steering wheel on, and the cluster in. I hooked up the heater hoses I disconnected when attempting to pull the heater core out, and need to put in a bit off water/coolant. Once thats done, I can wheel it over to a shop to have the refrigerant drained, and take the dash back off to get the AC/heater core out. I also covered the other door panel.

After the AC is drained, the heater core and wheel bearing will get done, as well as the Dynamat. I figure I will be starting on the dynamat this weekend, and have the wheel bearing done and ready to go back in on friday night/saturday.

During this process, Im thinking I will repaint my wheels while im working on other things this weekend. Going to pick up some white paint in a couple of days to spray them :D

Ahh i wanna do plaid in my car too. I can't find any i like though. =[
Yours looks great. :)
Thanks

The back panels turned out well, and the passenger panel was ok. The drivers side wasn't as nice, and I think I should have laid down some more glue on the cloth. Oh well, I wont mind re-doing it if it needs to be.

The headliner is going to get redone also when I take it off to lay some dynaliner on the roof. Its sagging in a couple places :???:

Well I got home and got cracking on the car. I threw my seat in, reconnected my coolant hoses, and filled the radiator up (most of the way). Hopped in the car, turned the key, and cranked.

and cranked and cranked and cranked.

Didnt hear my fuel pump priming so I looked into it. Power to the pump was reading 11.5-12v with the key in the ignition. I tried using my dads TL to jump it and pull more juice to go to the pump, and still nothing. (I didnt test power to the pump wire while the cables were connected, but she definitely tried to turn over alot better with the 14v coming in)

Took the pump out to do some testing. I had continuity at the pump, and so I found a charger (laptop and phone chargers) and used them to pull some power.

The phone charger put out 9.5v, and did not have much effect on the pump. I could feel it trying, but it didnt pump. I hooked up the laptop charger to it, which is putting out 18v, and low and behold, pumping occurred. Hooked it back up to the car and still nothing.

Unfortunately this pump isnt more than 8 months old. Sad to see it fail so early in life.

So after much testing with the multimeter, checking for continuity and voltage, I finally said screw it and bought a new fuel pump. I got a GSR fuel pump this time, and it has a higher LPH output. This will help with my slightly modified motor, but I sure will need a tune if my MPGs take a fall.

Unfortunately, I dont think I needed a new pump. After installing and turning the key on, it didnt prime. I looked back at my little switch wired where I have my fuel kill initially started, and it was illuminated. I said what the hell! Theres power flowing through it! I had tested the plug in the end before and it showed 12v when the key moved into the ON position. Well I decided to flip it and what do you know... the pump kicked on. Probably should have just put a real jumper wire at the break, but you learn from your mistakes.
So Im going to hang on to the old pump just in case I ever need to use it. It doesnt have more than 15,000 miles on it.

So Melanie runs now. I took her for a little spin to rub some of the rust off of the rotors. My steering wheel is pretty far off from my taking the wheel off of the rack. Will need to fix that later. I also started overheating, but that was foreseen, because I didn't fill the radiator up the whole way. I need to put some more in to make it to a shop and have the AC drained. Now I can actually drive her to take care of that! Woot.

Lots of progress today.

I took the car in to have the AC purged. When I am done with my maintenance I will go back to have it refilled, as I have already paid for the process.

Afterwards I unhooked the AC, and it pulled right out. I moved onto the air box, which houses the heater core. I had already removed the nuts I needed to, and all that was left was to disconnect the heater hoses. I managed to get the clamp off fairly easily, but needed to cut the hose to remove it from the soft copper tube. I will have to go out and buy new hose to replace the ones I put a slit in.

After removing the airbox, I set it aside to work on the stock sound deadening. I used the dry ice I picked up from Krogers to help freeze it. The first couple areas were a little difficult, as I though I would not have much time with the dry ice. As I progressed, I realized I had more than enough and moved slower, allowing the dryice to freeze the tar completely so that it flaked off much better.

I took more time this evening to clean up the front pan areas so I could lay some dynamat, and they are pretty close to being ready. Just a wipe and a vacuum and I can lay some down. After the front is done (firewall and front floor pans), the dash will go back in, and I can work on the rear later.

And I had to wash off the carpet, considering it was soaking in coolant for a couple of days.
