or you could always replace the ecu now and dyno or street tune it to clear the CEL. or actually you can get a OBD reader and clear the CEL that way :thumbs up forgot about that option until now

But with hondata he be able to tune nothing better then that
from my perspective he is on a budget. Currently Hondata only offers 2 ECUs for OBD1 systems. Hondata s100 and s300, s200 if you are lucky. s200 and s300 are the only ones which can be used for street tuning. they will run from 200-500 depending on which hondata system you buy. on top of that you need to get a socketed ecu or socket your own. Plus he wants to get a LS/V setup which will force him to get a vtec ecu which is more money. And to top it off if he doesnt know how to street tune or gets a hondata s100 he will need to dyno tuner to clear a CEL. IMHO a check engine reader is a better option than tuning on hondata.

Very true but since he going ls/v might As well get it and buy a vtec ecu and they dont cost a lot I would save up some money
Hondata does cost some money but you can buy a honda. Ecu anywhere now a days for cheap
And I highly doubt it he knows how to tune most of the people that buy hondata don't know how to tune its not easy out of aem dsmlink megasquirt etc. Hondata is the easiest but like I said not a lot of people know how to tune even if its a simple street tune people look at the maps and get lost they dont know wat to do with the numbers LOL

I ate the bones
Well, after going to UTI I was proffesionally trained to use Hondata K-pro, Hondata s300 manager, and SCT and MSD Digital for the american domestic side. I can tell you Hondata is so much easier. So I know how to tune
