when you leave yer car in a gear at a complete stop. lets say at a stop LIGHT NOT a stop SIGN (because you have to wait longer at a stop light rather than a stop sign). when you do that yer gna have to step on tha clutch and tha brake. which you will burn tha clutch faster, which I definatly try to avoid doing as much as possible. when im at at stoplight or stop sign I put it in neutral, then juss apply tha foot brake and keep it there until im ready to go. then when im ready to take off, I let go of tha footbrake and shift into 1st. why you do have to be in a gear when at a complete stop anyways?? my foot is on tha footbrake tha whole time when im at a stop so if someone rear ends me I won't fly into tha intersection.Your car should never be driving in neutral. Your car should always be in gear while turning and you should keep your car in gear as long as you can when coming to a stop.
Rev matching is a great technique to learn. It's not needed for daily driving. I second that you don't need to downshift every opportunity you get.
