a proper technique??

Your car should never be driving in neutral. Your car should always be in gear while turning and you should keep your car in gear as long as you can when coming to a stop.

Rev matching is a great technique to learn. It's not needed for daily driving. I second that you don't need to downshift every opportunity you get.
when you leave yer car in a gear at a complete stop. lets say at a stop LIGHT NOT a stop SIGN (because you have to wait longer at a stop light rather than a stop sign). when you do that yer gna have to step on tha clutch and tha brake. which you will burn tha clutch faster, which I definatly try to avoid doing as much as possible. when im at at stoplight or stop sign I put it in neutral, then juss apply tha foot brake and keep it there until im ready to go. then when im ready to take off, I let go of tha footbrake and shift into 1st. why you do have to be in a gear when at a complete stop anyways?? my foot is on tha footbrake tha whole time when im at a stop so if someone rear ends me I won't fly into tha intersection.

He said while driving and coming to a stop he didn't mean while you were stopped. Of course you'd keep it in neutral who would want to sit there and hold the clutch? And it wouldn't burn the clutch faster but it would wear the throw-out bearing faster, and needlessly.

If someone hits you hard enough you're going into the intersection brakes or not.

Holding your clutch in while at a stop isn't going to wear your clutch. You should keep it in gear because you might just need to move suddenly to avoid something disastrous, every second counts.

YO if your worried about stress on your engine why do you care to do this 'proper turn.' Your racing so what do you think your gonna do...

go on you tube and watch the drift bible. it explains a lot and has cameras on both the steering wheel and pedals so you can see what the driver is doing, and how it's done. I still can't heel toe. I have a weird way of doing it but it works for me so I guess that's all that matters.

Not too many guys I know use the double-clutch technique anymore. Heel-and-toe is more common nowadays. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes automatic.
Or he could get real baller and learn left foot braking technique like Rally drivers use. :D

Rev matching = heel-and-toe downshifting

Either heel-and-toe or double-clutching.
You can rev-match without heel-toe; it's basically heel-toe but no brake. That's the first thing to learn BEFORE heel toe, so you can get the feel for your engine and can consistently put the car at whatever RPM you need upon command.

God that is so damn hard. I F*ing blow at left-foot braking. I always brake WAYYY to hard with my left foot haha but w/e heel-toe works well enough for me at the moment.

It's just a habit because your left foot is used to just squashing the clutch down to the floor. It's fairly easy after a little practice on braking pressure. Just be sure not to practice when there's a car behind you

It's actually easier to learn in an auto first. That way you can concentrate more on applying proper pedal pressure and recognizing the feel.

^Very very true. I guess my gf's auto Focus is gonna get a little abuse today then

I honeslty never practice it because I am complacent with heel-toe lol. The guys who can left-foot brake are so fast though. I need to start practicing it now haha

I used to do the same shit but i've gotten much better with practice.

I really need to learn it for The Sweeper @ Button. And for Big Willow too.
I was using left-foot braking when I was chasing the Spec Miata. I don't think we need to do much braking in the Sweeper at Big Willow. It's pretty much a flat-out corner.

Some of those corners seem like we could use it but I'm not going to attmept it this time haha. That track is gonna be hella fast, I don't need to make any mistakes.
