Need help with choosing a suspension set up

Hello everyone. I am in the market for a new suspension set up other than stock.
The car is an 01 gsr. I drive this car on the weekends and sometime during the week, so its not a dd.
I do not auto cross or anything other than take it in a straight line ( though when i go around corners, i put it down :D fun stuff!). Im looking for suspension that is a little bit more stiff than stock, or possibly more.

im looking for something that is height adjustable, with stiffer than stock shocks basically. i dont know my budget yet. i want it dropped :)

ive been reading wondeful things about the koni gellow/gc set up, but that seems a little on the expensive side and a bit much for what im trying to do. but it is (supposedly) tested and true.

i have looked and function & forms type 1 for a little bit. height adjust ability independent of shock travel. they are cheap, but i havent found many reviews on them and if i do they say that they are good for the price, with a few negative responses.

i was also thinking koni reds with the gc coils? would the koni reds be able to take being lowered and still be stiff?

i also assume that all i will need to fix the camber problem, i would just need say a front camber kit(control arms) and lca's or a rear camber kit?

if anyone would like to help me out, please do so, im all ears! ... or eyes i guess haha. thanks

JdMrican, punctuation please.

If you want to have height and dampening adjustability, its not going to be cheap, unless you get some ebay brand components. I have Tein Super Streets, and I would take it that they are out of your price range. Tein also makes some, and these are both height and dampening adj. Tein also make a coilover which is only height adj, and cheaper than the set I use, called Tein Basics.

A lot of people have said good things about Skunk2's coilovers. They have a ProC and ProS I think, and I believe one is height only, and the other has adjustment on both damp and height.

You probably wont need to get a camber kit in this situation. You say you dont DD the car, so its not on the road much. Camber isnt the big tire-eater thats causes peoples tires to wear prematurely. That is mainly caused by incorrect toe settings. Get an alignment after you lower it, if you dont like the added neg camber, get yourself some adj upper control arms (front/back). New LCAs wont affect the camber.

well i beg to differ i had the tire-eater what u call what really is unleveling of ur tire kills the shape of it. i had adjustable lca in the front and adjusted 2wice and it still happened my tires were terrible (but this was only in the front) so cambers were needed i ended up raising my car from 2.o to 1.5(new springs) so u didnt see any bend better explained un leveling in the suspension after i raised it you see the struts aligned straight with the tire (front again the back was always fine) and now i have no problem i have new tires and haven't seen it happen again I dont think an alignment will save him from this i really think u need the cambers set have to be on point after a drop

im gonna have to agree with mirrorimg cause camber isn't really gonna eat your tire up as much or as fast as a bad toe setting will. And after any adjustment with your suspension system, your definitely gonna want an alignment. Once you start messing with your ride height, your also fucking up all your alignment angles. Although camber will cause some pulling or drifting.

Tokico w/ ground controls
I can vouch for those!
Good ride quality, and stiffer than stock. But its not a track set up soo for ur purposes id say its a good combo.

Koni yellow on GC is best IMO

FIXED I almost gave up trying to read your paragraph. I wanted to repsond to what you were trying to say, so I had to read it. Next time I wont.

Yes, camber will eat up your tire. It will were nearly as quickly as bad toe setting, but your tires wont last the printed "life" of the tire. As opposed to a 35k mi lifespan, you may need to change at I dont know, 25k or 30k.

When the TOE setting is bad, you may need new tires at 5k miles. That is whats going wrong here. Whoever did your toe adjustment, did a bad job. If you did it by "eyeballing," then shame on you. The reason why raising you car up probably helped is because when you change the geometry of a cars suspension, you affect all setting. Raising the car affects the camber, the change in camber changes the toe setting, the changing toe setting changes the caster angle, or something along those lines. They are all connected, and changing one changes the others. You just lucked out as to the change in camber moved the toe to within spec.

Thank you all for the quick responses! i appreciate it!

Since ive heard many good things about koni yellows/gc set up, or tockico/gc, i might just buy that only for now. that by itself fits in my price range(would there be anything else i would have to buy???). then upgrade the rest of the suspension if i really need to or if i ever get into auto x.

i like the look of some negative camber, and since its a weekender, i shouldnt have much to worry about as far as tire life.

any more comments/suggestions? im still open.. not sure when ill order.
