Kicking the habit..

Just call me chris.
In recent conversation with JDMJIM i have decided that after today i wont smoke another cig. Im starting this thread for others that may also want to quit. This forum has a workout crew and several other groups like that and i decided to start a crew for those fighting the battle to quit. so for anyone who wants to quit or has been trying to for some time feel free to join. and through this thread we can start some sort of a support system that when we get an urge to smoke or whatnot we can communicate with each other.

what a great idea, having support is the key to any successful accomplishment. it's not something that can be eaisly done alone.

I quit smoking on Aug 4, 4:00pm 2006 after 8 years. I love smoking and I miss it everyday, but I'm glad I quit.

if you smoke you die. I hate smokers with a passion and would like to slit their throats as they engulf that cancerous poison. lol jk this is a good idea! Please quit!

I quit going after I started college. Had been smoking for about 1-1/2 years until then. For me, it wasnt so much addiction, but boredom. I needed something to occupy myself when I had nothing to do, and smoking took care of impulse. I went cold turkey after my first semester in college, and although I occasionally smoke when I drink, it certainly leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Good luck guys. Try to find something to fill the hole that quitting smoking will leave, maybe chewing gum or sunflower seeds.

I quit once, and i have one of the best systems of quiting (and healthiest (*sp)) but i started up again because the reason why i quit was for the wrong reason so i decided to pick it up again. I do smoke now, i love it, its not the nicotine at all, its just the qhole action. I can quit any time i want, i do go without cigs for a couple of days when i choose. But im just not ready at this point in time to quit. I qould really suggest not quitting cold turkey tho, its the most unhealthy way to quit, its so bad on your body, it litteraly puts your body into shock. If you want i can post the way i quit last and it worked very very well and is way more healthy that quitting cold turkey. its very simple and really helps. i wish you the best of luck on quitting because its one of the hardest things to quit, and even more so to keep it up. it sucks because we get so addicted to it and even when we quit, the addiction never fades, especially if you have friends that smoke around you. So best of luck and ill definatly lend a hand and an ear to those willing to quit. :)
