acclude's 96 RS Build

so on my lunch break today I installed the OEM rear bumper, the center panel below the tails, and I picked up some much better condition 94-97 tails at the junkyard this weekend so I put those on too. Maybe it's from sitting off the car for so long, but the bumper does not line up right and has some pretty nasty gaps. I'll take pics next time I go over there. At this point I really don't care but it's another thing to add to the list to fix later (98+ rear perhaps?).

Next time I go there, I'm putting the fenders and the front bumper on so the body will officially be back together. I'm also gonna figure out something with that tach and get that situated. Those are definitely on the list, and I'm sure I'll do more than just that.

Haha did you actually buy that LS/VTEC built motor that was posted for sale up on here like a couple mts ago?? If I'm not mistaken that one is identical.

yeah man, if you read this thread it's in here. I went and checked it out and it was built right! I won't even tell you what I picked it up for but it was too good of a deal to pass up. I've added a few things to it and just double-checked clearances and torque specs to make sure it's not gonna fail anytime soon and it seems good to go. I hate buying pre-built motors and usually like to do my own stuff so there's no second guessing but it was too good of a deal to pass up. Down the road I will be changing out the type-R cams but they're staying in for now.

My plan is for now to get the motor running and tune it as-is and daily drive it for a little while. I will do a few small upgrades like a new racing radiator/slim fan, upgraded cams, and anything else that i feel could be beneficial for a daily driver, but that's it for a while. I'm hoping for around 250HP or so with this setup and I'll be happy with anything close to that. That should hold me over for a little while. I already have a JDM front so I need to put that on and then I'm doing a cheap flat black paint job after I finish all the body work I want to do. I will then focus on the suspension and brakes and drop some serious $$$$ into that. Then I will shift my attention to the interior and do the roll cage/seats/harnesses/custom dash and guages and other "race" items. Once that's done, then I will go back to focus on the engine and make some changes and boost it.

Alright, here's a few more random pics of the car as it sits right now.

Got the tach installed. Notice the shift light hiding in the center vent ;)

Rear is back together with new(er) tails that aren't all cracked. I know I need to clean it and do something about the exhaust.

And here's the rear bumper body lines that aren't matching up. I think it's just cause the bumper has sat for many years off the car and the plastic has taken a different shape. I think down the road I'm just going to get a 98+ rear and slap it on.

And she's ALMOST starting to look like a car again!

I've got some brand new Falkens (black w/chrome lip) and brand new 235/40/17 Dunlop FM901's I'm putting on it:

Plus it's going to be completely slammed to the ground.

yeah 17's is too big for 80-90% of the members on this forum! lol I plan to do the Brembo or a similar oversized brake kit in the near future and 17's is the SMALLEST rim that will fit it!

Just so you know, I will be pulling the tach and braket off and painting them black so they don't stand out as much. Will have new pics of that after this weekend.

Also, got my 800CCA Optima RedTop battery in and I ordered:
Thermal TB gasket
Thermal IM gasket
x-drilled and slotted rear discs to match the front

Parts should be in early next week.

That leaves me with:
Headgasket
valve cover gasket
cam seal
distributor
rear brake pads
fluids
2 hoses
1 fitting
some bulbs
some filters
thermostat

and that's pretty much it! I'll be driving it after I get those last few things and get them put on! Might be another week or two :headbang:

Don't laugh....IT WORKS!!! lol 8)

I didn't have the carpet out. Just the dash and stuff. To be honest, the carpet is so far gone at this point that I'm not even gonna waste my time on it. Eventually (much later down the road) I plan to pull it out, get the roll cage in and spray like rhino-liner all inside so there will be no carpet. I left it in for now because it's better than nothing. I stripped pretty much the full interior out of one of my old Accords and learned how bad of an idea that is for a daily driver. How you see it is how I drove it:

As ugly and disgusting as the carpet is in the teggy, it is fine for now. I'm not much of a looks kinda person anyways unless it's under the hood or in the wheel wells ;)
great idea i would love to see a rhino lined interior haha
