Thanks for the comments so far guys!

It's flat black. It looked kinda brownish while spraying but as it started to dry it looked more black.

I'm getting ready to head over to the garage now and do some more work. I'll see how it turned out now that it should be completly dry and take updated pics.

New pics should be posted up later tonight.

Can't wait for my GSX!
Nice work! I want to do something like this soon. How hard was it removing all the wiring and tearing back into the firewall? Pretty easy or what would you rate it? How hard will it be to put it all back in? One other question I had was why do you want to remove the p/s, a/c and abs? I see a lot of people do this and I don't understand why, weight reasons, looks or? If you remove this stuff what all do you have to do electrical or senser wise to fix it? How much work is it removing this stuff? Do you continue all the way through the transmission or is it strictly engine based and wiring? Thanks, sorry to ask so much! Just one of the first tear down threads I've seen bare naked like this and that is what I want to do.

I also forgot to ask. The paint you used that has the reflective rubber. Is this the same stuff applied to the undercarriage of the car? Where did you buy? I really need some of this applied under my car and I was also going to do the bay as well like you since my shit has no front wheel wells, covers or splash guards when I bought it. I need a good reflector type product like this. Thanks in advance! Keep them pics coming and good luck!

Wow that's a lot of questions!

This is very labor intensive! If you plan on doing this yourself and you've never done it before, plan for about 4-5 days worth of work working on it 8-10 hours a day asuming nothing gets broken or goes wrong. If only working on t a few hours in your spare time, plan on about 2 weeks of work. It is not something for a beginner to do. It is super easy to break things and mess stuff up.

Luckily mine didn't come with ABS so that's one less thing to remove, but A/C and P/S are getting removed because I don't like them. I never use A/C so it's dead weight, a small power drain on the engine, and another mechaincal thing to go wrong. Not to mention all the A/C plumbing that looks like crap and gets in the way. I'm removing P/S because it's really only helpful at low speeds or att a dead stop. You get much more "true" steering wheel feedback without it, plus the extra weight, extra plumbing, and other crap. Electrically, you just cut out the wires that run to those things and tape them off. Also pull the fuses associated with those systems.

The entire engine bay and everything in it is getting cleaned, and re-assmebled. That includes the trans.

As for the underspray, it's not reflective, it was just wet in those pics. New pics will be posted in a few minutes with updates. Any auto store has it for like $4-5 a can. I used 3.5 cans on the engine bay and frame rails.

More pics!!!!

Here's how the underbody spray turned out under the hood. It's definitely a flat black and looked so good I decided just to keep it as-is and start putting it back together.

So with that taken care of, I went ahead and started the wire tuck. LOTS of pics on this and I'll try to explain what I did.

Here's what I started with:
Pass. side

Driver side

I hate working in crowded areas so I went ahead and made some room:

The pass side engine harness was long enough to run through the center so no wire lengths were touched there. The driverss side one did need to be extended to reach the center of the car:

The pcis above pretty much show the process used for the rest of the tuck.

After pulling the wires that I knew I wasn't going to use like A/C stuff, here's the wires that needed to be run to stuff like the headlights, bumper lights, ground term., washer motors, wiper motor, brake fluid level sensor and that's pretty much it for the driver side.

Here's generally how I ran them:

A mock-up of the parts to make sure wire lengths were proper:

And the finished product for the D. side:

And for the pass. side. After pulling all the loom and tape off, this is pretty much what I was left with:

And the start of the wiring:

And the inside is pretty much done. Waiting for my battery relocation kit to come in and then I'll finish it off:

Since I'm putting a VTEC motor in, I went ahead and made my own harness for that and included it with the rest of the ECU wires. It will uplug just like the rest of the motor harness for easy install/removal. Also, it's a HUGE coincidence, but Honda happened to use the same plugs for A/C clutch and P/S pressure sensor that the VTEC solenoid and VTEC press. switch use. Since I removed those, I'm going to use them for VTEC now. Score!

Since operation wire-tuck is nearing completion, I went ahead and started re-assembling the bay:

She's actually starting to look like a car again! yay!

I'm going to have the motor and trans sitting in there sometime this week.

My overall goal for this overhaul was to make ALL work under the hood as easy and painless as possible. Motor installs should only take 30min to an hour with just basic handtools. Any work needed can be done easily and without having too move a bunch of crap out of the way.

Also, before anyone asks, I am NOT relocating the brake/clutch/fuel lines this time. I will do that next time I have to pull the motor out for any reason.

When I said I was rushing to get it on the road, I ment that I wasn't gonna drop money into upgrading the brakes/sus./chassis/roll cage/ and so on. I don't care too much for looks, but the engine bay is the one area of the car I never neglect!!!! The body and rest of th car are pretty much staying as-is until I have some extra cash to throw towards them. I need to put about $600 more into the motor, about $300 for tuning parts that I don't have yet, and about $100 in all new fluids, gas, filters, and so on since it's been sitting for so long. Until I get all of that, the car WILL NOT be driven so I might as well put some time into it and do it right.

Never tried the liquid tape. Let me know how that goes 8)

The motor is going in it sometime next week.

I went ahead and ordered the last of the stuff I need for the motor.

With any luck, It'll be up and running next weekend or the following week!!!!
