So it seems to me as I read through the forum everyone has different questions about HID's where to buy, differences in kits, and much more.

So I figured I would start this thread and see what I can help answer for you!

So post it up!

UUUHHHH-OOOOHHHHHHH...!!!
Good thread idea, bad title. Maybe have it changed to "HID Questions Answered" or something?

You're actually going to have to request that a moderator changes the title. Changing it yourself only modifies the title that appears above your original post, not what appears in the main forum.

Question: Whats the advantage to this new smaller HID ballast thats out right now. Is it reason enough to upgrade from my TSX HIDs just because the ballast is smaller or are there other advantages.

from my experience its 3 things, wether it is single beam or both beams.
What type of bulb? my OEM 99 integra headlights requried the 9006 bulbs. I bought a pair of aftermarket halo projector headlights, and even though the description of the headlights on the webpage had a ton of "OEM, OEM, OEM," it changed the type of bulb. The only thing that was OEM was where they bolted on, and the wiring harness for the "plugging in." If you make a mistake, you can probably send back the bulbs for the correct bulbs you need, if you dont use the bulbs.

The next thing is the temperature of the bulb, or color. The seller will probably tell you which temp. is which color, so you just choose what you want.

And the last is the ballast, slim or regular. Slim are smaller, obviously, so it is easier to mount.

Other than that, its simple. Just "plug and play."

APPROVED! (well changed)

thanks
I changed your title and stickied it. Maybe you can clarify any misconceptions that are associated with HIDs, also I would like to know more about the kelvin output and what colors are not just the most colorful but which ones will put out the most light on the road.

4700k is going to give you maximum light output if you have a good projector. Thats the whitest and cleanest light you are going to find. Some people think 6000k is better. 6000K is nice if you have "larger" projectors, because the blue in it breaks down some. 8000k is the maximum I would go for best light output. You gain noting from anything above 8000k in fact you start losing lighting because the colors cast shadow which the white cannot cover up thus basically making blind spots out of your HIDs.

There really is no difference between 35w and 55w kits. People claim you get more out of the bulb. This is untrue unless you are running 17000k or higher, were more wattage helps brighten the color you are asking for.

35w kits will actually reduce flickering in your lights because its a 20w less draw from your harness and alt. per side, or per light light you are converting (i.e. fogs, highs, lows, running lights)

90% of Analog HID kits fail in some way, analog kits do not control warm up or cool down of the bulb which is vital to bulb life and them not blowing out. All an Analog kit does is basically covert the power as need to power the bulb nothing else (this is 99% of your $60 ebay kits) so in the long run, just like over wattage Halogen replacements that burn up your harness the same is true for Analog. YES analog kits have digital starters, all kits do, but being fully digital and free thinking is what makes Pure Digital kits worth the money. You can spend $60 now to have to replace bulbs within 1 year or so and or have to replace ballasts, or deal with blow out boxes, flickering lights, and just pure headaches.

Most Projector Retrokits or aftermarket housings will require you to change your bulb style. Thats just a fact.

Do you have to have a projector type retrofit to use the hids?
No you do not have to have projectors to use HIDs case in point using them in daytime running lights, or fogs. You can simply run them in your stock non-projector housing, just make sure that you do some adjusting of your headlamps down and in otherwise you will create a great amount of glare.

Some Examples (my accord, two friends 07 Si's, camry with 3000k HID Conversion)
