Motor Build.... on an Auto

Before we get started, I know a 5 spd would be better blah blah. I don't need a lecture on it so please don't start.

Reason for doing this on an auto is that my current car is in fact an auto and its a very solid car and its got a good interior and its just a legit car. I am not big on the auto to 5 spd swap. Also I like pissing people off that lose to an auto (I use to have an auto awd tsi and it just makes me laugh)

Anyways. The game plan I am thinking is that I want to do a build to get like 200 or so hp but it has to be good enough to be a dd and I would like to stay away from a turbo kit... just go all motor. Seems like turbo stuff always has something wrong and like I said I have to have this as a dd.

I was wondering one if anyone has done a build like this and if they have any pointers (I know there are some on here)

Also which block would be better? A LS block or an GSR block.

Either way I won't be using my motor bc I will build this slowly and then have all of it done and just drop it in and just have an extra motor.

I'm guessing that a vtec head will be better than an ls head... just what I hear but if I am wrong correct me

Anyways any knowledge will be greatly appreciated :D

If all motor you might as well go LS-VTEC. Gotta have the vtec though. You prolly wont be beating anybody with a non vtec auto unless you do somethin crazy expensive. I would go LS-vtec and hope the tranny holds together.

Well, I've heard of people building automatic Integra transmissions some years back but I can't begin to tell you what to do. I know they can be strengthened but it'll never be better than manual except in an 1/8th mile drag strip.

Honestly bro, I don't think building your motor would be worth all the time, effort, and money. I would just save up and do a tranny sway or even better, engine swap. Just my 2 cents.

theres a guy on team-integra that just did a gsr auto swap.

im all 4 auto builds. be different
Yeah me too.

There is a good trans shop around here and I think I will have the tranny strengthened. Btw I am not really into drag racing anyways. I'm not going for fastest, I am going for faster plus my cars engine will prob wear out soon anyways. If I feel the need to be fast I will just hop in my wifes 5spd GST 8)

I know mteg was doing a build on one and I am very interested to see how his turned out.

gst's are slow stock. your 200hp integra would tea bag that thing. if you are happy with the car how it is, leave it how it is and buy a car to go faster in. or just add a 50-75 shot of nitrous for when you want to go fast. its cheap and will do exactly what you want.

I am happy with my car but I want a little something else when I want it. and yeah a 200 hp would beat a stock gst bc they are 210hp stock and weigh another 600 lbs about. I am happy with how it drives and handles.. its a little slow though.. thats why I am considering a build.

the biggest factor in this build is the strength of the tranny. it can be done it will be really expensive but you are able to do it. If you are going the LS/Vtec route you will need to get the JDM SiR auto ECU so that it will accomodate the vtec.

the JDM SiR auto ecu is that something that is a plug and play or does it require some wiring? I have never had to do any kind of work with an ecu.

in my opinioon i think if you can find a gsr auto tranny (which is stupid rare to my knowledge) then do a LS vtec to your car or build the head.

I don't want to go to in depth since I'm going to be doing a thread on an auto build with over 230 whp. The problem isn't so much the tranny as much as tuning. A manual ls will have the clutch fail long before an auto tranny will go. You can get a tranny cooler and new tc which will help. For a 200 go build, the tranny will be fine if you take care of it. No manual shifting or neutral drops. I believe I have the solution for tuning an auto. Just keep an eye out for my thread.

I will keep an eye out. Yeah I don't manual shift or anything... that sh*t is dumb. Quick question, to get 200 is vtec a must?

No, you could go with a stage 3 head package with a port and polish. Spray will easily get you there.

Yeah I'm kinda against spray... I dunno why lol. Prob a total newb question  but what is all part of a stage 3 head package.... like what all makes it a stage 3?
