Motor Build.... on an Auto

http://www.crower.com/cat/import/honda/cams/b18ab.shtml Go with Crower 404's and retainers and springs. That along with a skunk 2 IM and larger TB, tuning, full 2 1/2"- 2 3/4" exhaust you should easilly hit over 170whp. Having the head ported and polished will add more. Idk, a built bottem end and some other stuff should get you close to 200whp. Just search all the N/A ls builds on this forum, TI, non vtec.com, etc... Like I said the only thing really holding you back is tuning, and that really isn't going to be an issue anymore. You do need to do a lot of research, but this build is not impossible. Good Luck.

I don't want to go to in depth since I'm going to be doing a thread on an auto build with over 230 whp. The problem isn't so much the tranny as much as tuning. A manual ls will have the clutch fail long before an auto tranny will go. You can get a tranny cooler and new tc which will help. For a 200 go build, the tranny will be fine if you take care of it. No manual shifting or neutral drops. I believe I have the solution for tuning an auto. Just keep an eye out for my thread.
i never understood why people say that manual shifting an auto will fucki it up ? i know that neutral dropping it will destroy it but i dont understand why manual shifting it will. your just shifting it like if it were to shift by itself. the owners manual even says you could shif it like a manual wihout the clutch. my friend always manual shifts to get onto on ramps faster and what not in his civic and its perfectly fine hes been doing it for years too.

Wait... What?
Well your friend is retarded.. manual shifting is pointless in the first place because the transmission will shift by it self at the best place when you have the pedal floored. If you want to shift yourself, you should get a manual ... for normal accelerating the transmission is made to respond to how much gas your giving it.

I think what he is doing is downshifting into 3rd so when he stomps on it, the car downshifts into 2nd hence more power. I must admit that I do that from time to time. The main thing is that you have to be extremly carefull. Think about going 65 and accidently shifting into second or god forbid first. Once or twice isn't going to kill your tranny or blow your motor but you will hit that rev limiter hard. It's best to just put the car in drive. Sometimes when I'm in town I'll put it in 3rd if I'm cruising around but I leave it there, and try not ride too long with rpm's over 4k.

well thats what he does too. keep it in D3 around town for cruising. he dosent downshift it manually h waits for the tanny to shift down once then he will just lock the gear in that place. he usually does it coming out of corners like if he was in D3 he lets the tranny downshit to 2nd then he will shift it into 2nd to lock the gear in place. i really dont se any harm in the way he drives it its not like hes downshifting like it was a manual mostly just upshifts. i know downshifting an auto like you would a manual would also kill it.

Wait... What?
i see, the problem is that when you decide to let the car upshift it's very probable that you are putting more stress on the transmission then the computer would if it was shifting for you... and it will eventually lead to a worn out transmission.
