Hello,
I just picked up a 94 gsr and I am a complete newb when it comes to automobiles. I would really appreciate any advice from those knowledgeable in this aspect. I'm really curios in what order I should go for when it comes to adding aftermarket parts for engine tuning. I am 100% completely ignorant when it comes to type of engines, b18's, b20's ect...ect... I know it's a DOHC VTEC, and I understand what that is. So if you guys are bored and feel like educating me, I sure would appreciate it.

I would like to know what mods are worth putting on, ecu, intake, turbo, headers, bodykits (jdm type-r stuff like that), suspension and most importantly what companys make the best products that are worth investing into.

I'm also trying to do my share research on this, but it becomes very overwhelming with all of the engine types and other stuff I can do to this vehicle. If you guys could also maybe show me links of pictures for body kits that would be so appreciative. And if anyone is in the Portland, Oregon area, I'll buy the beers for the knowledge.

Thanks in advance. Would appreciate no flamming if possible, but I understand it is destined to happen. Thanks again

I will also be asking a lot of why's that I don't understand and cannot google. I'm genuinely trying to learn here and trying to get a step up on the learning curve. This has become a new hobby for me since I've recently been diagnosed with a shitty tumor and after the removal of the tumor I suffer from drop foot because of the nerves removed from my leg to free the tumor. SO~ If a question sounds dumb, please know that I'm always on heavy doses of Chemo and morphine for pain. So please bare with me here, I promise to not be a noob for long

Welcome to CI !! :)

Usually when you pick up a new ride, you check it out to make sure everything is working right. Then you do a super car wash and take pictures after it's sparkling. Degrease engine bay. Oil Change. Replace Tires if necessary. Clean Rims and Brake assembly.

ugh..too late to write more..nite lol

oh and also...try to determine if everything is stock..or if there are aftermarket parts here and there...you can use pictures of fully stock to compare with...

this link has a LOT of useful information. Since you just picked up your gsr, did they tell you when the timing belt was last changed. Thats the first thing i got replaced because once that breaks, your looking at spending a lot of money.

Yeah the car is 100% stock. It's actually in really great shape. the last person that owned it was the second owner and owned it for the most amount of its life. The car has NO dents or scratches on the outside. It needs some paint on the roof because of fading or whatever. The engine bay does need to be washed, but everything looks primarily good. I have pictures that i can post later.

Thanks for the link and thanks for the advise guys. I'll be back with questions later and replys. Off to the doctors.

I love the headlights of the jdm itr's. That's about all i want. I like some side skirts, if they have a subtle vents on the end. I really want the type of car that is low profile (cops and other attention), I want it to be smooth (i'm not sure what defines smooth, maybe a subtle roundish figure type), but most of all I'm looking for performance. I would like to get the most power possible. For instance: I would love for someone to pull up to me at a stop light then just eat em up.

I really want a fun car to drive. Great suspension, great get up and go, I love hauling ass through curvy roads. I'm not really sure if i have the vocabulary to describe what I want without too many ishes in there or if I don't have enough vision, since i'm just recently now gaining interest in the scene and have not seen enough to decide whether I like this or i like that.

Hauling Ass on curves :headbang: I agree straight lines are a little boring. There are some great suspension gurus on here and you will learn a lot. Welcome :D

Well if you want a car for stoplight wars then I'd look into turbocharging. Also look into coilovers. Just stick around a while, and I promise you will learn enough to make decisions.
