What cams you runnin with your TURBO?

So lately I've been askin around gettin a lot of different opinions on this question. What would be a good cam to buy for runnin a 450-500 hp b series terror? I was runnin a pair of skunk2 stge 2 cams with skunk2 valves and springs. I heard that the skunk2 cams are for a na build and not recommended for a low compression motor. So that's where I'm at now figurin out my options before I go blow my money on something I can't return. But n e ways I scored some. Machined, lighten, and balanced type R valves and R springs. I was thinkin bout usin the R valves with the stiffer skunk2 springs. Also I'm gonna be runnin some weisco 9-1 low comp. Stock bore pistons. Also i'll be tuning with a obd1 p72 ecu with a hondata s200.

Well the top responses I've been gettin have been #1 genuine TyPe-R cams, crower upgraded type-R type cams, regrinded B16A3 cams, stock jdm gsr cams, etc.
So I've been kinda leanin towards gettin some R cams but I wanted to see what decisions you all made and what your feelings were bout em.

Also if this helps , I haven't got the turbo yet so that part of my turbo equation is still open. So any turbo sizing knowledge would be fuckin great too. Thanks guys

I didn't know skunk 2 had any turbo cams, I thought they were a na brand manufacturer.

Nothing wrong w/ GS-R stock for that power. The best I've seen for improvement were Skunk Pro 1s. But I've found it HARDLY necessary for anything other than GS-R cams. It's not an NA car, or a 4G63, so don't treat it like one.

As for the Turbo, I recommend....

The one thing about looking at 400whp+ applications is the fact that sometimes some turbo dealers don't match the right turbine wheel with the 60-1 compressor wheel. They use a turbine wheel that is good to about 380whp, but loses efficiency and gains a lot of heat. Most also put the compressor wheel in a larger Compressor cover, mainly for looks, but no better change in efficiency, and it requires you to notch the block. So, with the help of Garrett, I came up with a better solution:

Allow me to introduce to you, the SILVER SURFER.

This is a T3/T04B 60-1 compressor wheel. The original 60-1 18 years ago was made for the Rolls-Royce Phantom. This T04bB cover was ported and honed to accept this wheel again without sacrificing top end. The 60-1 is actually good to about 530whp, not the 575whp. This is in a polished aluminum compressor cover which doesn't require you to notch the block to save room.

Here's the exhaust housing:

This is a stainless steel polished exhaust housing. It doesn't rust. In fact, it actually turns gold over time. This houses a P-Trim wheel, capable of over 600whp (Same one used in the T3/T67), but housed in a .58A/R. The P-Trim is capable of using more flow with less turbine energy, than the stage III that is typical.

(P-trim is on the left - Stage III is on the right)

The housing can work with both 5 bolt exhaust downpipes or 4 bolt exhaust downpipes.

The last one this was used was on a B18c1 GS-R motor with 9.0:1 compression pistons and Eagle rods made 389whp@14psi with this turbo, and was able to reach full pressure by 4200rpms.

I agree

Who even said anything remotely close to that
The only reason why I mention that, is because there are a large number of people that tend to converse with others in the "boosted realm" that are using a DSM, or SRT-4 or other forced inducted forum that gives information that may not necessarily be relevant to honda forced induction, such as changing of cams, balance shaft removal, etc. These same "tips" may not not be well-applied to those that are running a Honda (B or K series) that is utilizing a turbocharger.

I understand that. Hence the reason I didn't even mention my 4G63 setup. Just wondering where that came from LOL

But nah, I don't take stuff from other forums. Just the good old fashion way.....from personal experience and education
