Pegasus scoop finally came in...

Before:




Sad excuse of an OEM scoop thing on the left, Pegasus on right



After:





Went for a ride, staying mid range through the RPMs, fan never kicked on. Not even when I shut the engine off.




Also replaced the battery because kept getting hard starts that would reset my gauges and popped my starter/fuel pump fuse. Apparently really common for these bikes when the battery is on its last leg.

It's torquey as hell, and will keep up with Japanese 600 4cyl bikes. As far as top speed, the ECM limits it to around 135, but it will get there pretty quick :lol:


Difference between Japanese sportbikes and a Buell is that Buells were made to be as streetable as possible.

Not saying you can't take it to a track either. The super short wheelbase, adjustable suspension and mass centralization help with that :mrgreen:


But they're more along the lines of a canyon carver than a race bike .

I got kinda off topic. I was just talking about how everyone on the planet brings up tracking like they can't ride a bike if they can't take it to a track day.

Fuck it, give me the keys to a fucking 883 sportster, or a dyna, I'll take the fucker to the track. :lol:

Pretty much. Those old XR1000's were supposed to be like a street version of the XR750 flat trackers. It used the same heads (with work done), same carbs and a bigger bore... And made less power than the 750 :lol:



I guess the XR1000 engines couldn't have been that bad though. The early Buells used them. :what:





That was one of those bikes that they had to build 50 of to go racing. Harley was throwing out spare XR1000 engines and Buell got them for cheap.... Except there was only 47 engines left, so he had to buy another 3 complete, already sold bike :lol:
