So this is where I'm going to be posting about not only what I did to my integra, but also where I will be asking for help when it comes to things.

THE ROAD SO FAR
My 2000 GS was given to my uncle (a mechanic) by this guy that "didn't want to bother with it anymore". He was dumber than a box of rocks and didn't realize that it needed an oil change and new power steering fluid. I bought the thing for $1800 off my uncle and I was off!
A tune up was in order once it was mine, I proceeded to change the air filter, plugs, wires, and distributor cap and rotor. However, smog pointed out that it had some error code. Seeing as how I was out of money, from buying and doing a tune up, I freaked and began to be annoying on the internets, especially here. Once I learned what the problem was, and gathered more funds, I was off to buy what I hoped was the culprit, an ignition coil. After replacing, I became curious as to when the check engine light would go off, when it magically disappeared while driving. I returned to smog to find that, even tough the light was off, the code still lived in the computer. So, in frustration, because I lack my own code reader, I just pulled the connectors off the battery and reset the ECU that way. Then BAM, it passed smog.

Life after smog

Once that was out of the way, and the car was mine according to the state, I proceeded to consider performance upgrades. After much internetting, I decoded, a new cat back system should be next on the list. So I asked around, and being on a budget, posted that a cheap exhaust was for me. Then, after hearing a horror story from a buddy, decided that it might just be better to wait and save up. in the mean time, I went about changing the gauge cluster and climate control lights. The simple things were enough to hold me over until I could afford something good.

Next, I decided that I should clean my throttle body, a good little project that wouldn't hurt. to my surprise, as I put back the air box lid, I found that I had broken two of the three (rusty) bolts that secure it. Imagine the disappointment on my face when that happened. So I proceeded to slap some duct tape on it and jump onto thmotorsports and look for something new. I landed on a CT engineering Ice box. Almost too pricey, but had just gotten a raise so I went with it.

Then, I won the lottery, literally. I won $500 on a scratcher! So, I typed my over to the apexi website and ordered myself a N1 exhaust!

A bump in the road

So, over here on cloud nine, I was awaiting my new and lovely parts in the mail. Then, when they finally arrived, I headed over to my uncle's pad and asked to borrow his (super awesome) jack and jack stands, and show off my new exhaust, we noticed something very upsetting. The PO had welded the resonator to the cat!! I was distraught. Now how much longer must I wait?!?! But, seeing that I was frustrated, my uncle reminded me that HE knows how to weld, and said that we simply need to cut them apart, and weld a flange onto the cat to allow me to satisfaction of slapping that baby on.
THIS IS THE PART WHERE I NEED HELP
I have no idea what kind of flange I will need to fit on the cat. What info can I pull off the cat that will help me find the right diameter? I would ask my uncle but he is away on vacation for the month. So please, let me know where/how I can get SOMETHING that will allow me to get the right flange to be welded on so that I can finally have my wonderful exhaust.

So, I still have not been able to find the correct flange for the cat. I tried calling and asking the auto parts store, and they have no idea what I'm asking for. I think I'll have to try and pull one from another teg at the pick and pull and hack the flange off that.

A light at the end of the tunnel
So I think I may have found a solution as a buddy of mine, who works for a parts supplier, tells me that he can get flanges for about $2 each. So I'm going to give him like $15 and get all the sizes he has and use the one that fits and have a couple spare flanges lying around hahaha! Now all I have to do is wait for my uncle to get back (on the 5th) and do some cuttin' and some weldin'. I will post pics of the end product and hopefully the process.

Minor updates

So, due to changes at work, I have not been able to put my exhaust in :(. However, on a rare day off, I adjusted my throttle cable allowing for maximum response without being too tight, its much nicer now. While doing this, I noticed that my fuel filter bottom bolt is too stripped to remove. So I plan on cutting a bit off and bending and re flaring the end and adding a new bolt to allow me to install my new one and finally stop worrying about driving slow everywhere so I can conserve that precious go juice! I'll be throwing up a little write up on it to help out whoever else has this same "stripped bottom bolt" problem.

Dont do that. Grind down 2 flat spots and use an adjustable wrench.

There is such a thing as a bolt out socket. It's to remove stripped bolts lol.

But zacks method is more my style and by adjustable wrench I think he's referring to a crescent wrench.
