Lol. It doesnt matter if its made in japan and shipped here or assembled here. Honda has come to a point where they dont build in japan and send it here. They just build it here and build THEIR cars differently. I think he assumed it was an actual "jdm" car. And when I said jdm I say it for what it actually means. Im not some dumbass that thinks all hondas are JDM BRO..

ACTUAL japan made hondas are different then the american equivalent. Not always better, not always worse. Just different. They have different standards.

JDM literally means japan made only. Not made in japan and shipped somewhere else. It literally means made in japan, unless the OWNER ships its, it will die in japan
JDM is actually a made up term that was overly popularized. It also does not mean made in japan...Japan doesnt have land to manufacturer anything. JDM means it is sold in their domestic market. Like JDM pepsi...which is pepsi sold in japan.

what? Acura are just rebranded Hondas. Like Datsun and Nissan, or Toyota and old lexus. People wont pay the prices that Honda wanted for X car so they made Acura as a luxury brand. Honda has 3 different dealership teirs in Japan. Verno, Primo and something else. Verno is the sports line and i think primo is the luxury cars and the other one is for kei cars. Its branding, there is no "ACURA". There was a story about Honda trying to create a separate brand called Acura like how Lexus is its own thing. But that fell through.

Dylan, they didn't do it because people wouldn't pay that much for a car badged Honda.
They created Acura, as did Nissan with Infinity and Toyota with Lexus due to American anti-monopoly laws. They aren't allowed to have that my different models produced under the same manufacturing name. They can however, create a "separate" manufacturer, call it a luxury division, and sell all the models that they intended to. This is why when you go to the Honda dealership and ask for parts for an Integra they have to cross reference a lot of the parts. It's a technicality they follow to adhere to the anti-monopoly laws.
This is partially to blame for GM having Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Saturn(had) and Ford has Lincoln and Mercury(had).
And Nissan just became Datsun's new namesake back about 30 years or so ago. Slightly different circumstances than Acura/Honda but you get the idea.

Yes and no

Like the acura tsx is the Honda Accord
Acura mdx is its own car but on the Honda pilot platform.

Yes I know acura is Honda, I've known since I was a kid and my dad is an acura salesmen

Fat guy in a little coat.
My understanding was that americans didnt want to buy a honda, because it was a honda. So they trow on some leather, call it acura and bam! Make money...

Either way, my suspension is made in so cal, since thats where the "assembly plant" is now. Right?

There is no debate. And for the record since some people are still not realizing it, even though it has been stated, Nissan didn't make datsun, they bought datsun out.

I thought JDM literaly ment Japanese Domestic Market. Guess i was wrong lol
No you are correct.. the thing ppl dont understand is that at its truest form japanese domestic cars ARE different then usdm cars or edm cars. At least they were when the terms were made up. Lol. Like what was before.. it really is just a made up term to help clarify where a car came from. But really it doesnt matter, its still a honda and is durable as shit. The mechanic probably had just started and wanted to make conversation. Any real mechanic wouldnt care where the car came from but would be asking how many miles it had because they know hondas dont stop. Lol

i believe you right but i think its more towards why they made acura primarily in america. They were bigger fancier cars for us Mericans. Lol
