American driving tests are disgustingly easy. I was (and still am in my own mind) a terrible driver and I sailed through driving school/the license test with nary a fault.

They should really require skill tests in adverse conditions, manual transmissions, etc.

Why on earth did you bump this?

Can we just get a thread lock please? Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with the thread, it's not like he has done anything wrong and has always kept his end of it respectful. While very few of us agree or care to participate in a lot of this, those that have been trolling his thread and attacking him makes you the only person breaking forum rules.

I really don't see what the big deal is, nobody has to open this thread. Nobody is making you read it. There are plenty of stuff on the internet that I do not care to read, so I just don't. Problem solved.

Not to mention you're also bumping it by posting in it.

Isn't getting a motorcycle lisence much harder?

f*** yes it is. Depends. I found the written test to be slightly difficult, only because I felt some of the questions could have more than 1 answer, or being in the left or right side of a lane in a certain situation, it's all variables in real life.

Damn DMV, I can't even get my license until I turn 21, or I have my permit for 6 months, which I have an appointment next week to get my motorcycle license :D

If you take a motorcycle safety course, you bypass the CHP motorcycle test at the DMV, which could be harder from what I hear. The test at the DMV, if you take it on a small bike, you're only licensed to ride small bikes under a certain size. If you pass on a big bike, you can ride whatever you like.

For me, I passed the MSC 100% flawlessly in every test, they had no complaints for me. But I still have to wait 6 months to get my license. Only difference from permit and license is no 2 up riding, riding at night, or highway riding. I can't and refuse to ride my little dirtbikes on the highway, so I'm good there. I don't 2 up it. But I do ride at night, since I have to work till after 11 PM.

Mind you, these are just the laws for California! Texas, Florida, and Hawaii have no helmet laws, sadly.

Honestly I'd wear a helmet, I like my brain how it is. The bike I want is the one from the beginning of the latest tron movie, the one he runs from the cop on. I heard about the class to bypass the DMV test. I did not know about the different size bikes matter

I think it's still in effect if you decide to just take the course test at the DMV. But I recommend the classes instead because you just learn a lot of good info from them.

I remember we were doing exercises on the bikes with them off, lean left/turn right, lean right/turn left, but some filipino guy was doing lean left/turn left, and vice versa. The instructors were getting frustrated with him lol. He didn't pass.

All riders under 21 are required to wear a helmet in Texas. There are no provisions for 21+. I wear one if I'm going any distance or on the freeways. Riding a couple blocks around town, not necessarily.
