1. I hate "stage" references because they are not finite. I wish companies would stop referring to cams universally in stages and use real terms like lift and duration etc
2. vtec is overrated. honda was not the one to invent it or the first to implement it. that was actually fiat in the 60/70's. HONDA was just the first to use on such a mass scale. the only reason the vtec engines make more power is not because of vtec. it's because the heads flow so damn well. vtec is more of a process than a power adder. it's the combination of head flow(cfm) and the aggressive profile of your high cam's lobes that generate you power. that's why i hate when people make reference to vtec as being "like a small turbo"
3. I'll elaborate as to why i hate piggybacks. they lie to the ecu... it's not a real "tune" it adjusts the ecu's perceptions of air coming into the motor in which case it adjusts fuel and timing. this is a bad thing to do since you aren't directly controlling the fuel nor the timing. th ecu typically freaks out and f***s with your timing when you do this. that's just one of the many reasons i do not like them. now a days there are so many "real" ways of tuning your car that are affordable. so no i'm not advocating you go buy some overpriced hondata nonsense either or an aem standalone for your street car. but do not put that piggyback nonsense on your car either.
either way good luck acheiving that without forced induction and/or a vtec head conversion and upgraded compression.
completely built balls to the walls ls's are lucky to break 170whp all motor...... and for the money invested in them you could've had a k24

180hp or 180whpPiggy backs are also waste if money unless your going all out and your pockets are the size of Rick Ross's stomach. But if I can get at least 180hp out of an Ls I'm happy
