What's all wrong with your motor? Just a full tune up, or something else? Because I was getting around the same when I bought my car.

Oil was pitch black, spark plugs & wires were burnt, distributor rotor cracked into two pieces when I pulled it out.
When I got it, the plugs were way off on the gap, and they had ash deposits on it I think, or they were discolored, I can't remember, the oil was blacker than night, and smelled funny, trans fluid was pretty much never changed, VC gasket was leaking, (I also have either a cam seal or rear main seal leak, still haven't tackled that cause I don't have the equipment to pull the motor) plug wires were the original wires, and my AC and PS belts are torn.

I'm about to buy my first teg and there's a few for sale near me. Some auto and some manual. Can you make an auto quick? Because that's going to be my main focus and I figured you guys would be the best to ask.

Yes and no.

Yes because just like any car, you can build it up and mod it to be faster, some of the fastest drag cars on the earth are automatic, but it will take a bit more money and time to do so. The weakest part of the automatic transmissions is their lack luster torque converters (automatic transmission clutches, take a look on wikipedia to learn more about those if you're interested). That said, you can upgrade the torque converters. THere's a handful of us who are pushing some bigger numbers for auto transmissions, the member Spawne on here is doing a relatively large build on his and I am finishing putting together a turbo setup for mine.

No, because it will take more work to get it to the same level as a manual car, and even with the same mods it will be a bit slower with the factory transmission because of the suuuuuuper long gear ratios and isn't necessarily the quickest off the line -_-

So it's really up to you, I must say, in traffic and on steep hills, I couldn't be happier and all my friends are jealous I just have to lift off the brakes and press the gas casually instead of having to rush and try and get my footwork before I roll back in to another car, and my "clutch" doesn't get all hot and sticky from sitting in stop and go traffic for over an hour :)

I appreciate all the info. I'm thinking get a manual now to build up, and save for an auto for leisure driving/winter driving :) either way, ik I'll love getting my dream car finally. My only concern is going from my v8 my caddy has now. 0-60 in 6.5 is a lot of fun so I want to rival or top that with my teg. If I can do that fairly easily with an auto, preferably naturally aspirated, then I'm down.

That one might be a stretch haha, it'll take some serious building up to get it to that point, you have to remember you're dealing with less than half the engine you had before lol, but in reality anything is possible, if you want it enough and have the means to do so, I have no doubt you can make it happen :thumbs up

I mean if I get a GS-R it wouldn't be too hard. They do 0-60 in around 7. Test pipe, straight pipe, new headers, CA, new plugs and wires and I'd probably beat that.

I think for an N/A setup to do that you would need at least cams and valvetrain, intake header and exhaust won't net you those times I wouldn't think
