So on my way home I get stopped by a trooper. He walks up and says "I stopped you because you have HID headlights"... *sigh* haters gon' hate? I will admit I incorrectly retrofitted them into stock housings but I fully intend to properly install projectors for them. I was wondering does anyone know where I could find some proper HID projector housings for my beloved DA?

You're going to have to do a real projector retro fit. There are only a few style's of headlights available for purchase and none of them will properly put out light.

Best to buy the clear housed headlights like these... Because of the clear lens, JDM 1 pieces and USDM 3 pieces have the flute lines that will scatter light.

and buy some projectors from like a TSX or something or from here

Do some fabricating and you're done.

What? I dont understand how you incorrectly retrofitted. If you retrofitted at all then you have hid projectors in your headlights already.

Im gonna guess you are using terms incorrectly and you put either "hid" bulbs in your headlights or you bought a pnp kit which is NOT retrofitting. Retrofit IS putting real hid projectors into your housing. And yes its best to use a clear lens headlight.

How does that scatter light? Are you talking about it with hid reflectors not projectors?

these scatter light like crazy actually ^^
I think he meant to get those headlights because there are no lines in the design of the lens. The lines causes scattered light when you retrofit a hid projector into the housing. So he said to use those headlights and retrofit a real hid projector into there for the best output with minimal distortion.

Couldn't he purchase the real hid headlight from a jdm integra type r and put that into his car? That already has a real projector in there and it costs $300-$600 depending on where you find it.

Thank you...

The JDM G3 headlights are not direct bolt ons, Modifications will be need to be done with some sheet metal and fiber glass/plastic work. The hood that bows down to the center of the headlights will need to be extended and reshaped about 2" along with the little lip part of the bumper that meets the hood, And some reshaping (rounding it more) on the fenders where it meets the corner of the lights.

Well sticking HID's into the stock housings isn't illegal in Texas (at least the DMV couldn't find any law on it when I called) but it is annoying as fuck for the oncoming traffic I'm just gonna aim them down a bit. As much as it may piss peeps here off at least most of you live else where so you don't have to worry about crossing my obnoxiously bright lights :)

If it werent then he wouldnt have ticketed you for it so that means you thought the person who answered the phone at the dmv was in some way competent. You fail, not him. lol You should be looking into the vehicle code he wrote down on the ticket because that is what the officer is stating that you violated.
