WTF Did They Do To My Car???

I recently had my oil changed. I've now put 70 miles on the car and am noticing a ticking a noise at low idles, especially when the engine revs down. I've tried my best to record it for you all.

Here's what I've noticed looking into it.

1. There seems to be about an extra quart of oil in the car. (picture below)
2. They put in 5/20 when the manual calls for 5/30.

The car seems to drive okay, but I'm worried about the extra oil and the wrong oil weight.

Could the "ticking" noise be caused by this? Is there a reason they put a different oil weight in? I know that it was 5/30 previously in my car.

The car is a 2000 GS Coupe with 100,200 miles on it.

I'm working on uploading the sound recording of the engine now.

Wipe the stick clean then check it. The noise may be valves. You might want to do a valve adjust. Didn't you specify which oil!? Or say after you want it redone?

I checked the stick after driving it, letting it sit for 10 minutes, then wiping it clean.

And I guess I assumed that a shop would let me know before changing an oil weight on me.

How much am I looking at for that at a shop? And why am I only hearing this now after the oil change? It is possible I didn't notice it before, but unlikely.

they didn't hurt it by running the wrong weight. its a honda bro. u could put used oil in that engine and she will run great, not saying u should. but the car has 100 k. its time for a valve adjustment. called for every 60k u should be working on ur second valve adjustment if oem engine. and that why u hear it a low idle. valve clearance needs adjustment. 757 Automotive Specialist

Thanks man.

I'm due for the timing belt soon, so I think I'll just have it done then. I spoke with my mechanic who recommended that. One thing he said is that I should hear the valves a little bit, and that it should kind of sound like a sewing machine.

Valve adjustment calls for one hour book time. So just call for their labor rates. And add on a $2.50-$10.00 shop supplies fee usually. Ask them to visually check for any abnormal wear on head internals too. Most shops will do that for free, it just requires them to look at what's in plain sight.

im having the the same issue now and took my vc off but my valves were all within spec. i was kinda freaking out in the beginning so i called some shops and the lowest price to do it was $300 with labor, that was around my area tho and the shops around here suck......

Dealerships will charge one hour. Plus all gaskets, which I would just buy from a parts store and bring it in with you.

I wouldn't trust a shop to change my oil... ESPECIALLY JIFFY LUBE... there are videos of them charging u but NOT doing the work. Fuckin' panzies! Changing oil is as EASY as pooping. DO IT YOURSELF! If a shop did it, I'd also worry about them strippin' your drain bolt and not telling u! CAN'T TRUST THESE GUYS... ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY MAKE $9 AN HOUR.
