I still don't know for sure what it is. I found a knob on the cable and messed with it. Made the clutch pedal really loose or really tight, but didn't solve my shifting problem at all. I did notice some exposed metal around a spot on the cable and the silicone or rubber easily coming off in that spot, but it's been like that since I bought the car. My theory is cable, clutch, or both. Won't know for sure til my friend can look at it.

Another thing is that if I start the car in 1st or reverse, it starts moving on its own like an automatic in reverse or drive. Could that be a dead givaway to anything?

your clutch is out of whack. check the knob again. pull up on the cable and tighten it clock wise bring it back down and check the clutch pedal feel, you will notice the difference between the tension. when it falls out of adjustment it can cause your car to act like its auto since everything is basically engaged and not where it's suppose to be.

I've tightened and re-tightened the cable. All I got was white smoke...guess I've got my answer.

If it ain't the clutch then something next to it is broke. :(

I had this exact same problem with my mustang when I had it, it was nearly impossible to put into gears when car was running, I had to use 2 hands to shift to 2nd/3rd etc.. I replaced the clutch and it fixed my problem. It very well could be your throw out bearing, but if I were you I would just take the trans out (gonna have to anyway) and check out the bearing, the clutch, etc. A few springs might be broken as well, just give it a visual inspection, I have a feeling you will know exactly what the problem is when you get in there. Good luck man

3 long weeks, but I'm back in business. It was definitely the clutch. My friend sent me a pic to my Gmail but I never got it. He has a silly iPhone, lol I'll see how fucked it was when I see him again.

Now I just hope this thing stays in one piece until I get my DC4 back. It too will have a brand new clutch since it went out the day before he started working on my car. The irony...

This 500 mile break-in period sucks, btw. lol but I already put 200 on her.
