okay i just got a crazy idea i want to send my ls vtec motor to spoon to have them build it i know its gonna cost ten grand but i would end up spending that anyway. so why not right now i have a couple of friends in japan that i could send it to and they could go there would be alot easier (pays to be ex military) anyway is it a good idea or should i just buy an f20b and rebuild it?

Your money... How much power would you expect to get out of that motor if you went through that kinda trouble?

Like Matt said, how much power can you expect to get out of the motor for 10 grand?
And is it REALLY worth it to you?

If you want to send it to spoon... give them a B18C1 or 5 and not a frankenmotor.

spoon isn't a motor building company in the first place.

they mildly tune Honda's motors.

if you knew anything about them then you would know this.
They are all about the balance of everything, not crazy hp.
if I was gonna send anything to spoon, id go to japan with my car and let them build my entire car.
if you sent a type r motor to them, id be surprised if you got it back making 220 to the wheel. like i said before, they are renowned for making everything flow together to make a finally tuned racing machine. they aren't your local all hp motor building shop.

like tyler said, Ichishima created spoon to for endurance races, each piece of the motor is created for endurance. Not high HP. I suggest taking it to your local motor builder for a high hp build, because 220whp on a type R isnt all that hard to do, all you would need to spend is about 3k

Spoon Sports builds motors, but they are "spiced up" Type R motors. The rods and pistons etc are balanced and weighted etc. IMO much easier to do your self or have a shop do it to be honest. All you need in your LS Vtec is a set of Pro 1 cams

well since you have an ls/vtec, im assuming the ls block rotating assembly is stock, and you can honestly just leave it like that. I know everyone says...put arp rod bolts in and what not, but that means taking the block apart

(knock on wood) i have had a b20/vtec, stock b20 block, that i have taken to the strip, autox, and road racing and it has been fine..as long as you change the oil and dont beat the crap outta it 24/7, the block will hold together for a while (im coming up on 2 years)
