What performance parts should I get first?

Hi guys. I've been working on the appearance for my car....
but now I want to work on my performance part... things under the hood and etc...
where should i start...? what are some necessities or important things
or things that make the biggest difference
I'm a total noob at this type of stuff... I seriously dont know anything about stuff under the hood.
but im trying to stay in a reasonable spending range as well..
btw.
I have a LS 01.

if your not planning anything big get headers, cat converter and catback system. i heard for a good price range they deliver some small performance, and they won't effect your mpg (if you care). those 3 things a lone will cost you 500-1400, so you better have money. don't waste your money and get some cheap header for 75 on ebay. they're not good for performance and they break. save up and get quality stuff. im a noob too, im saving for these 3 things already that i haven't yet got. lol. it's been years.

Always go intake first, get it breathing better and should get you better mileage.

Just start simple. As stated, an intake of some sort (do some research on this to see what type/brand etc you're looking for) Header, exhaust etc...

are you sure intake system will give you more mpg? the last time i read about it, intake gives you more air, more air means more gas. i put in a sri and i lost a bit of mpg.
