What is the most dependable with turbo motor

Hey guys,

so I am turboing my b18b1, prob going to stick with a 16g turbo now, until i get more power hungry and go into a full on build. My hp goal right now is 275hp-300hp. Now my question is would the stock LS trans be able to comfortably hold 275 hp to 300 hp? From what I have read from a few threads is that it is, others say b16 trans. I guess what I am trying to ask is will the stock LS trans hold 275-300 hp safely. If not, what trans would be good for that?

any input would help guys.

Thanks

Its not the transmission you need to be worried about. The blocks cylinder walls are at their limit at that amount of power, and your clutch will not last long either.

I suggest getting a tune to about 250hp until you can do a real build.

yea that block itself cant hold more then 7 psi on stock internals. (ie pistons, cylinder walls, rods) so like mirrior said. id be more worried about the block itself then the transmission.

Alright, thank you guys, I am going to start looking into some upgraded internals, once the rest of my turbo parts come in and i get paid again, then its time to break open the block.

Now for rods and pistons, you think like 9:1 cp pistons with eagle rods would be good. What other internals would you reccomend for my hp goal.

there is really no need to put low comp pistons in it it's already at 9.5:1 and the lower you go the more chance for detonation you create but if you have a tuner that is the heezy fo sheezy (sorry i'm not black so my ebonics are proly terrible) then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Well I was thinking around ether 9.0 to 10.0 :1

Thats the compression range im looking at

you're good to go then that's the main reason people like to boost the ls is the low compression ratio and the long gears in the tranny

Ya so I have heard. I might be getting a GSR block though and Ill just use a GSR tranny. I plan on getting low comp pistons and forged rods, I think the stock crank should be good. Do you have a reccomendations on what to do to head of the GSR if I do get it for my turbo build?

any motor is dependable for boost, it depends on how much boost you want to run through it. IMO, a reliable motor is something that you dont half ass and cut corners. if you have a power goal stick to it and if you dont and cut corners because of funds its not going to be reliable oh and a b18c1 head if you want vtec,

OH ya i dont plan on cutting really any corners, My hp goal is 300-325, and i want to do the build right the first time so i dont have to do it again

ya but i have heard to many bad things about ls vtecs and b20 vtecs and all that jazz. I just want to stick to the b18c1, prob get it bored out to a 83mm, throw cp pistons, with eagle rods. Along with some cams, all accompanied by a 50 trim. Then a very nice tune. Which will hopefully put me near my goal
