what clutch to run?????

Hey guys, new to the forum. I have a question about my clutch. The other day I was driving home, and went to accelerate from the 4way stop, and my car started moving, but then RPM's went way high with no response from the car. Could this be anything OTHER than my clutch, i.e. CMS, problems w/hydraulic lines, etc? If it IS the clutch, is exedy stage 1 the best way to go? I'm looking at running some boost at some point, and would like to have to replace the clutch as infrequently as possible....I'd probably be running between 5-15 lbs. Would stage 1 hold that, or should I spring for stage 2?

It seems to me that there is a logical progression of things you should do to your car first, whats the best place to start prepping for boost?

Thanks guys.

Yes, sounds as if your clutch is going on you, if you plan to boost in the near future get a stage 2, but be warned, your shifts will not be as smooth, it will be a bit more jerky through slow shifts (DD style driving) and maybe uncomfortable for your passengers

Hey guys, talked to a guy at Firestone, quoted ~$970 for a clutch job, with OEM parts.....Screw that.....How hard would it be to put on my own clutch? I'm good w/tools, and I'd can follow directions. I've got the Hanes manual, but just wondering how difficult it will be from someone who has done it before.

Thanks,

its not that difficult, but its time consuming and i prefer to have AT LEAST one person helping. the transmission is akward and heavy and its a lot easier to pull it off and line it up with a few extra hands. since its your first time, id say plan on the whole day. you have to take the axles and intermediate shaft out along with a lot of other things. i sent you a pm btw
