Upgrading to my new gt28, one question

Ok thanks man!! That really helps! Will I be ok using rubber hose, or do I need to somehow use braided line like you have on one of yours? And also, will I need to drain out my coolant system to do this, or can I just cut those and have only a little come out when I tee it in? Sorry for all the questions

The braided line is my oil feed. No need for the coolant lines to be braided unless you have the extra coin to throw around. If you hold up the lines and cut them to size you shouldn't need to drain the system. just cut and plug the line with some bolts. Then replace with the new segments ensuring you plug the end of the new line until you connect it. Then pop the radiator cap off and top off the fluid. Start the car and let it heat up until the thermostat opens, top off the coolant, and then put the cap back on. Rinse any spillage with water and be done.

I have another question referring to what muckman said. Do I need an oil feed restrictor? Because I spoke with the tuneing shop here and they said I don't because I have the journal bearing model. But then I spoke with apt and they said anything that has an oil pressure of 60 or higher will need it, but I have no idea what the oil pressure is going into the turbo.. just wanna make sure I do this right!

You're going to need it. As to what size, it depends on the manufacturers recommendation. Honda motors have high oil pressure around 80psi if I remember correctly. I didn't use one because my turbo has a restrictor built into it and I'm only running a -3AN line to it.

Ok cool, ill go with a .035 since that's what apt has listed for the gt28, and muckman said that size too

I'm super thankful I asked again about the restrictor, I wasnt planning in usuing one when I first got this turbo, but after putting it on this weekend and spending all Friday trying to locate an oil feed restrictor, I spoke with a local shop who explained to me why its so important to get the right restrictor. I ended up finding one, and got my coolant lines ran and everything too, got her started up and shes good to go!

I think its retarded that turbo manufacturers don't include or build in the oil restrictors. This is why you see so many oil seal/smoking issues with Precision turbos because they don't recommend a restrictor. People run .065" restrictors on them and they last forever.

That's what I was thinking when I was looking for the restrictor, other than what you told me in the beggining of this thread I had no idea what I needed. I emailed garrett asking about it and they, literally just said, " usually the journal bearing turbos don't require a restrictor, but if you notice any extra 'sepage' than you'll need to time one." Without even telling me what size I may need. They knew the application for the car, I told them my set up too. There's hardly any direction I feel when it comes to oil restrictors
