Turbo w/ high compression

So I'm building an all motor application right now. But I was thinking when I was done maybe throwing a turbo on it and running some low boost. You guys think its a bad idea? Everything is going to be forged in the motor any probablly sleeved. Compression will be around 11.5:1 in an LS/VTEC setup

high compression will work, and you will see some very impressive #'s. but the terrible thing about high compression, is there is LESS room for error. With low or even stock compression, if you runn a little lean/rich or if there is detonation your engine will recover. While at the same time if you are running high compression and runn lean you will detonate and your engine might not recover. you need to tune, tune, and tune some more. i recomend tunning to run rich to help entend the life of your engine

buddy of mine boosted his high compression motor at six pounds didn't last to long and he knew it was a bad idea, your set up would have to be just perfect along with perfect tuning dangerous.
just throw a 100 shot on it

"less room for error..." - thats why im going to have my uncle do it for meh....he used to build race cars at bmw..lol..custom turbos an all that icky tricky stuff'...:)

I'm thinking running around 5-6 pounds would provide a nice horsepower gain and not be too detremental to the engine

if it works out..im curious to know what was involved..

Yea I decided to go for 12:1 compression and once the motor gets broken in I'm gonna throw a custom turbo kit I'm putting toghether on it and hopefully run about 10lbs. Hopefully

really if you want turbo build for a turbo really. no i'm not kidding it just makes since. 9:1 pistons sleeved, rods 20 psi serious power. be more fun and less dangerous

i can't say that i am anywhere near recommending 10psi and 12:1 CR. One tiny mistake or misfire and then fun will end very quickly.

Well Its going to be forged, balanced, and sleeved. I really don't want another High boost car. I had just gotten rid of my 240 running 29Lbs. Its just something for the future. I still have to get the motor together, if all my parts ever get here.

12:1!!! not a good idea man....i wouldn't even recommend it with 6 psi if you have 12:1 cp. Doesn't matter how well you tune it everything has a limit and 12:1 compression w/ any extra psi seems REALLY close to breaking that limit.

forged or not, the cylinder pressures will be outraegously high. maybe if you tund it to run on c16, turbo blue or something but that stuff is very expensive and not street legal. expect to break stuff often, ecpecially if you live in a hot climate
