Turbo ls questions

i just recently bought an ls that was previously turboed but the owner had taken the turbo off before i bought it and now im thinking about throwin a turbo back on. If i do this how much psi should i run cuz my goal is to hit at least the 200hp range on the motor with stock internals.
also what kind of turbo should i use t3/t4?
as far as managment what should i get?

I'm not much of a turbo guy, but I would definitly recomend a compression and leakdown test. This summer I did a swap and later found out that one of the cylinders had no compression. Just make sure the boost didn't do something liek that.

yeah im definitly going to do a test b4 i turbo it but im just trying to get an idea of what i should get and what kinda boost i should run to get my car where i want it so i can start thinking a more seriously.

I am absolutly no help in the turbo game. Big old domed pistons for me haha.

:lol: same here i have only done all motor builds but i wanna try somethin a little diffrent this time.

so hopefully theres some1 here that can help me...

T3/T4 will be just fine. just run at 9 psi and you should be fine all day every day. and make plenty of power ;)

and there are many choices for tuning most will recomend hondata but what ever chrome or whatever cross that bridge when you get there.

if you never plan on more the 10psi or 200whp or something then i would consider a different turbo. a t3/t4 is a little big if your plans are really that conservative

so what kind of turbo should be used then?

i was thinking like 5-6 psi daily n no more then 10 when at the track...

a 60 trim T3 would work well at that pressure and would still give you a little head room for more power in the future. the Garrett GT28R or GT28RS is awesome and would be virtually lagless but they also cost alot more.

where is a good website to buy a turbo from and the other parts im guna need?

i figure i will try n put together my own kit to save a lil money...

Turbonetics is a good place to start. They have a lot of T3 and T4 series turbo's and a lot of info on them so you can compare contrast the differences.

PS - I wouldnt buy a used turbo

go to this website tunedbylorange.com they did my buds ls turbo and before he got a megan full race manifold and 3" down pipe he made 222whp at 10psi and now with the manifold and down pipe and 14 psi he is around 13 dailydriver
