Turbo Kit!!!!

Ehhh I give up. You guys can justify it however you want. At the end of the day it's your car and your problem. I suggest you all read the FI write-ups in the FI forums as well as research ecu tuning and the basics of how a motor works. Good luck.
wow.. lol.. nuthin like an insult.. lol.. the basics?? lol ive had my turbo for about a year, never even attempted to install it yet cuz im still working on making sure its good and my car is good and set up correctly.. its actually sittin in a shop with my car and the mechanic asked me if i paid 4 G's for it and i told him no.. he said the quality of it coulda fooled him.. yea, i know sum mechanics are retards and theres no "GOD" of all mechanics, but hes saved my cars numerous times so im gonna have to go with him. all im saying is that ebay does sell junk, but ebay also sells skunk2, greddy, tein, turbonetics and othe high dollar brand stuff. does that make those company's product crap cuz i got it thru ebay at a discount price??if so then my car itself is crap cuz i bought it on ebay from a carlot in chicago. im not trying to stir up shit or get ppl pissed off or nothing, just saying that ebay DOES sell shit products that much i agree. but y does every turbo have to be junk from ebay unless i spend my lifes savings on one.. im not trying to justify anything, just curious as to y, if my turbo doesnt cost as much as my car its no good?? dont take any of this the wrong way, im not being a duesche.. just simply stating my point of view. :???:

nick is saying that half of the people who post in this thread want to just get cheap horsepower and do a half ass job, with injectors, tuning etc. Nick takes pride in what he does and i feel that everyone else should have the same mind set. Do it once and do it right. Not, maybe the first time we will see how it goes and then we will do it right.

ebay isn't a company. the fact that one person has an ebay turbo kit that works great doesn't mean shit to the next person. if you got lucky on ebay good for you but companies with R&D departments and proven products are more likey to stand behind their product and produce something quality. however if someone copies a design (a Skunk2 IM or an ASR SFB) for example, it can put you and your car at risk or actually REDUCE power.

so all the calculations you do about power and tuning may be way off if the product isn't up to snuff. also, having a snail fail and send shrapnal in to your intake manifold ain't no joke. i'm with bigmac.

Gotta roll with the punches. You can learn quite a bit from reading, but you never really know until you try it yourself. I bought a car that "burned a little oil," then ended up rebuilding it because it was just that bad.

Sometimes you have to spend a little money to learn the hard way, and just remember for the next time. Good luck with your turbo.

THANKS!! sorry to hear about the oil problem, tho im sure its better now than ever and u prob had a lil fun doing it and learned sum shit too.. lol

dosent any1 realize that the only people dogging the ebay kits are the people buying the expensive stuff.I know it cant be the best kit because otherwise everyone would have them.but do you ever see any1 complain abuot the ebay kits that have ebay kits.probably not.any1 who knows there stuff knows a garrett turbo is the best.but ebay kits can also work well.i do agree that it can be a risk.its a risk/reward decision.not every1 has the funds.but im currently putting tgether an ebay kit and plan on peicing it with better parts in the future.ive done alot of reading and it seems only the manifolds are junk but everything else works out ok sometimes.by the way poster your body is perfect nice car man,get some rims on that thing some rota jmags or dr16s are pretty cheap my dude $417 shipped on ebay.
Actually I do know people who have bought ebay kits and they have failed....

EXAMPLES

GLOWING RED MANIFOLD>>> Followed by cracking of that manifold

Turbo>>>> Competley shit out on the dyno

T-Bolt and Couplers>>> Couldnt hold 15psi to save your life....I probably couldnt even use them on my pools water pump to hold a hose....yes that sad.

Lets just say if your buying a ebay kit have enough money to replace every parts eventually but then again you wouldnt be buying a ebay kit now would you....just my 2 cents

PS> May have taken me half a year to build my turbo but I built it the correct way and everyday I thank myself for it.
