Tune Up

Alright, this will be my first tune up, on any car, so I'm just looking for advice and making sure I have the right things to do the job. I'm ordering almost all of these parts off of Rockauto.com (to save money). I think I've got all of the right parts that will last long AND give me some more power behind them, just correct me if I'm wrong. Also, let me know if I left anything out in this tune up parts list. I'm trying to do a full tune up, because I don't think this car has ever really had one..

Spark Plugs: CHAMPION IRIDIUM
Spark Plug Wires: POWERMAX Premium
Distributor Cap & Rotor: Airtex Brass Terminals Premium
Fuel Filter: BECK/ARNLEY

I'm also doing a oil change with Valvoline oil and a K&N gold filter. As far as the air filter goes, I'm making a cold air intake with the Spectre pipe (autozone part number 8208) and the Spectre filter (autozone part number 9735)

Any comments or changes?

Spectre filters are junk IMHO

Also on a stock or mostly stock Honda iridium plugs are kind of a waste of money, a new set of 2.99$ ea NGKS will do just as well

Well the Spectre air intake was kind of a first glance thing, I haven't looked into filters too much yet, still working on it.

Thanks for the advice about the iridium plugs! That will save me a few bucks, I'll go down a few grades on those. Maybe single platinum plugs.

I've always used NGK single platinums in my Hondas, and I've run everything from a stock f series, bolted h22, and my current ls.. Only thing I ever ran iridiums in was my mazdaspeed3.

The pipe is kind of a whatever thing it's just pipe, but I always run aem or k&n filters, usually ill just buy a 30$ eBay short ram and then stick on a good quality filter

NGK v power. They're like 2.09 a piece. You gotta change then frequently anyway so why not.

Hell I put v power plugs in my car.

you have to change NGK plugs frequently? Or spark plugs frequently? I'm new to all of this, forgive me. How frequent is frequently?

Spark plugs in general need to be changed frequently. Call me wasteful but I change mine every 6 months. Not even at 10,000 miles.

There is a lot of controversy regarding K&N's filters, no real independent test to prove they are harmful for engines long term, but a lot of people have interesting claims against K&N. Personally, I'd rather run the OEM air filter or a foam filter such as Comptech (now CT Engineering) or Spoon.

I've always ran NGK V Power spark plugs. The engine (non-vtec) does not call for a platinum plug and most times there is a decal on the inner-side of the hood that will tell you what are the OEM spark plugs are. I'd go with that. No need to spend extra money when the car requires less.

Here's an OEM air filter for your car: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-1993-ACURA-INTEGRA-AIR-FILTER-OEM-BRAND-NEW-/270906103936?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year:1993|Make:Acura|Model:Integra|Submodel:LS&hash=item3f13431880&vxp=mtr

I've only changed my plugs once since I owned my car lol. NGK is definitely the way to go

I used auto zones cheapest OEM replacement filter and its great. I ran over my k&n....

Wasn't the NGK iridium supposed to be the magic 100,000 mile plug?

I've run aem dry flows for years, a k&n only works well if it's kept up meticulously(cleaned and oiled)

I'm not a fan of panel filters and factory air boxes as they just don't flow well. And well I have no evidence against your 6$ autozone filter, I'm sure that it probably doesn't filter extremely well

I couldn't tell you if it does or not. I haven't noticed any more buildup in my TB and IM (I clean everything regularly) than when the k&n was there.

I also run a full a air box, not a pod filter on a pipe. So my options on filter dimensions are limited.

Yeah running an air box does limit your choices quite a bit
