hey guys jus bought my first teggy (not myfirst honda though) its an B18A and i was wondering what motor would be better suited for high-revving, the LSVTEC or CRVTEC?, i heard the the B18 shouldn be used for high revving due to its bottom-end engineering, but idk to much bout CRVTEC ether any help would be greatly appriciated...
i also got the B16A2 that i had in my civic before should i jus slap that in rather than gettin a non-vtec mill?

like i said, help is appiciated

Some people on this site already know I am anti-LS/Vtec, but if i was you. Sell that B16, put that money towards a GSR swap. If you are worried about high revs get an engine that is made to handle them. What are you plans for this motor down the road? Boost or do you plan to stay all-motor?

LSVTEC or CRVTEC? neither really they are not made to go that high every time you take one to 8k you risk spining a berring or something if you reallly want daily high revs GSR it's just safer. but if you really want LSVTEC or CRVTEC the bottom ends are the same but the B20 is a bigger bore.

:welcome:

boost...im making plans for a turbo kit but why not the B16? they can easliy rev over 9k just like its counterpart, the B18C

B16-111 Ft LBS TQ < B18C1-127 (or so) FT LBS TQ
maybe easy over 8k but 9k your pushin it with both engines the C5 maybe what you should save for

not to mention the dissplacement

the only issue w/ doin LS/VTEC AND CRV/VTEC is those motors shouldnt be droped into an engine bay until they are fully built i personaly believe because their is so much to do, so many things that you have to adjust for it to run great. and w/ the CRV/VTEC its great for a track car but for a DD i dnt think its that great because the block and the head dosnt match and lock togather as well as a LS block would. Now for high reving you can build and LS/VTEC to do it but i would really sugest getting balanced internals first.

LS is a great engine by itself, Vtec engines are great by themselves. Now we take the two good engines and make them this engine that you have to worry about breaking. Then the Vtec block goes in a dumpster, and the LS heads probably just sit on a shelf. Thats just how I feel about it, I talked to a guy that does a lot of them. Told me he threw 4 B16 blocks in the dumpster a week ago. I just think the LS/Vtec is going to make it harder to find parts later on down the road, seeing how the B series isnt coming in cars anymore.
