im pretty new to car audio, but when we got new mackie subs for our studio, we had to break them in for about a day or two, so kinda keeping it down a bit. maybe thats what happened with yours

ohhh..didnt know about doing that lol....i took it back and told the lady this shits broke i want my money back and she told me it ur fault you blew it! so i never baught mtx again...im a kicker kinda guy now...<- ever since i met this kid at the sub shop that knew his shit when it came to BASS with a ford probe that had a 15" solo baric with this huge ass fosgate amp...bumped soo hard all the windows on the bass shop were shaking and i was sitting in the car and had t get out cuz it bumped so hard it kinda hurt! and he didnt even have the bass knob all the way up...i was like damn diz shits bad..all he could say is "eh its allright..still running underpowered tho..just need a bigger car for a bigger box and a way bigger amp.." lol the box was so big it had to be jammed tight between the front seats and the hatch..

haha yeah. my brother has an 8" solo baric with a custom box that he made at our grandpas cabinet shop, and it hits harder than my JLaudio 10". i was trying to find a kicker place in town, but the only one sells pretty much only JL's. not a bad sub though, havent had any troubles with it. running a crappy 600 watt amp, bridged mono.

IMO if you pushing alot of watts you should run either a

Fozgate
or
Volfenhag

I think i know what might of happened to your sub, if it's a dual voice coil you might have just blew out 1 voice coil. I had a similiar problem when i owened an infinity 12' aswell mine actually also went out but i didn't try pushing it down like you did. But i took the sub to a friend who knows alot about subs and he just rewired it using 1 coil and it worked not as loud as using both coils, but hey it worked good enough. So, you should take the sub out the box and see what it looks like and maybe you could google on how to re-wire it with one coil, hope the info helps.

good cheep amp (under $250) is a rockford t3002, it is listed as only a 300watt amp, but anyone who knows this amp knows it really pushes 900+ when bridged.. the birth sheet on mine was 987watts. I have it hooked to 2 Rockford 10" p3s and my system is pretty loud.

if u blow a coil on it and just run the other coil its just gonna fry that coil. dual voice coils where made to run both coils. it gives u different ways to wire it to change the ohm configuration
