The Mugen valve cover goes for about $800, but the Spoon goes for about $250. They're both basically the same, keeping motors normally aspirated in mind. Their suspension products are also very similar, but Mugen actually makes body kits for some models.
As for a Spoon B series engine, yeah they go for about 6g's retail, but, it's fully balanced and is more reliable than a Skunk 2 equipped B series. Very fairly priced for a brand new crate motor that is built for endurance racing. You'd have to see one perform to believe it.
Spoon and Mugen are well worth the money if you want performance, quality, and reliability. It pays off to have these, not only so you don't get laughed at for having cheap stuff, but also if you race your car on a regular basis.
These two companies emphasize total balance. That's what wins the race.[/QUO
that is all you need to know about why they are priced high. also they are exclusive japanese parts, meaning imported drectly from japan to select U.S. distributors. IMO as far as the spoon engines and valve covers go....overpriced.
www.inlinfour.com sells them. they are balanced+blueprinted+spoon headgasket. for that price($5,880-B16A, $6,125-B16B, $6,370-B18C) you could have a very reputable engine tuner here in the states balance+blueprint+ install a spoon headgasket+ some headwork and probably even cams. parts quality though is extremely and I mean extremely good. I prefer mugen over spoon though because they compete in the USTCC and spoon doesnt to my knowledge.
