speakers and head unit?

im looking for a head unit, speakers and maybe a 10in sub with my tax return money

im completely lost in the world of speakers/headunits/subs.
and looking threw patrick4588s build thread and it inspired me
but i have no idea where to start looking for stuff besides best buy and such
but alot of people say i can find it cheaper online.

i like alpine stuff. my friend has a alpine head unit and speakers and it sounded awesome, so im leaning towards that kinda. unless someone can point me in the right direction for some interior speakers and a head unit first. and possibly a list of good stuff to have along with it?

any help is appreaciated

i love kenwood head units.......
and u get what u pay for so dont go the cheap route unless u want to replace soon.
i love hifonics amps and mtx subs only the 7500,8500,9500 jackhammer series

Yea man, you will find cheaper stuff online;however, they will probably only offer a warranty through the website, if that matters to you. you'll need an amp for the sub, and if you want, you can amp the door speakers as well.
Alpine is a good brand, their head units are good, and i have a pair of their door speakers and I like them as well. Shoot, you'd be fine doing alpine everything, they are a reputable brand so.

yea i wanted to just start off with a headunit and speakers
and i eventually i wanted to amp the door speakers just not right away

i might actually be getting my friends alpine speakers and headunit cause a lady hit his 98 gsr and its totaled =[
(which might be posted for sale here soon)

can anyone recomend a good reputrable(sp?) website? i dont wanna get screwed online again lol, im not too worried about a warrenty

if you need wiring stuff, i have a stupid amount of HIGH END audio wiring. alpine head units now are not that good; pretty much all of them only have 2v pre outs

I recommend Alpine too for a head unit.
www.crutchfield.com is a big well known site for car audio.
It's true you can find stuff cheap around the internet, but it usually means that you get no manufacturers warranty (some places will actually open up the box, take out the equipment and scratch off the serial number), it's refurbished or it's a model that is a few years old.

i used to like alpine, i even had a nice alpine unit. the new ones however arent as good of quality and have the lower voltage preouts which arent good for external amplifiers.

I went and checked out some Alpine's in a showroom a year or two ago, and the quality didn't feel as good as the past. The plastic of the faceplate looked cheap and the buttons weren't as tight. These were the lower end decks, maybe the higher end stuff is built nicer. Right now I have 3 Alpine's (7893, 7894, 7977) from 2002 and 2003 and they're great. It amazing how much the price of Alpine's has dropped for the lower end radio's.

I love kenwood head units and speakers depend on what kind of music you will be listening to. Kenwood has one of the nicest head units all the way around in the kdc-x991. They have a great selection of midrange equipment also.

do what headunit you want but i personally love my alpine type R's. 4 6.5.s 2 6x9s 2 12inch subs and 2 1000 watt amps. oh and 2 1.5 tweeters. i had a pioneer premier headunit with 4v preouts. sounds like heaven and sex.
