but it does have a cold air feed from the bottom. where does the intake pipe place your filter at? when the radiator fans kick on, on b series engines, they blow extremely hot air right at the filter of a SRI. most companies try to keep the filters as far away as possible, but a cheap one might have not done enough research to realize that the car loses about 8hp every time the fans come on if you have an SRI colse to the fans. That's why i built a sheetmetal divider that seals to my hood and blocks air coming off the radiator and fans from my AEM SRI.Walshie said:mmm im thinking not since the stock airbox isnt a direct filter suck from the ground air.
b/c a K&N drop in makes like a whole 1 or 2 hp differenceShea said:why not just get a k&n drop in filter, works with the stock airbox and easy to install :what:
so does a cai or a sridc2GS-R said:b/c a K&N drop in makes like a whole 1 or 2 hp difference
whats a cold air box?dc2GS-R said:my aem sri with the custom cold air box made 9 on a dynapack hahaha
i left the cold air feed from the stock intake to blow air at my aem sri. then made a sheetmetal divider that seals against the hood and blocks hot air from the filter. if you have SRI on a dyno you'll notice that a b series engine will lose about 8-10hp every time the radiator fans come on. they blow hot air right onto the filter. making that divider eliminates the probShea said:whats a cold air box?
well all i'm saying is when getting a drop in filter theres less room for bad products but afterall it is just an intake system...
ahhh, i see, my buddy made one of them never knew what it was called thoughdc2GS-R said:i left the cold air feed from the stock intake to blow air at my aem sri. then made a sheetmetal divider that seals against the hood and blocks hot air from the filter. if you have SRI on a dyno you'll notice that a b series engine will lose about 8-10hp every time the radiator fans come on. they blow hot air right onto the filter. making that divider eliminates the prob
my car won't go into vtec when you first start it. needs to warm up a little bit. my buddies RSX is the same way. we put an AEM on it and thought it sucked...then the car warmed up and it screamed! :what:Walshie said:yeah i thought mabey you would say the air feed from the bottom but the filter is right there in front of it and the initial test drive the car wasent warm nor hot it was very cold out and it was just started so its all cold air for a good few minutes and it still felt slugish
well thats prob why his car felt sluggish. you shouldn't rape it when the engine is cold1990TeGLs said:thats ne car with VTEC
