Yes sir, I commute 50+ miles a day, so it was nice on my wallet, performance wise, it was meh, overall I loved it

I've never had an si tranny so I'm not sure how much better they are, but from what I've heard, I would've loved it more, but being at 4k in 5th at ~80mph is gas hogging enough for me, just my humble opinion

To be honest, 4K in 5th going 80 isn't too bad... I mean if you're strictly commuting that many miles hey go for it, but if you're looking for performance, take the secondary route.

I will agree on the sluggishness, but, mine was tuned to 8500, so when I shifted it was still pulling harder than my ls cuz it was in the power band, and my top speed was still higher with the gearing, I found it nice, but of course we are all just tossing opinions, I love how we all start tossing in our $0.02 and the OP is never heard from again, always happens lol

I'm going to look at a full b16 swap Wednesday for a hell of a deal. My LS is burning oil. I was originally looking at b20 or b18b to drop in while I build my stock motor for boost, but the swap i found is legit- all vins match, still in the car, clean carfax and all.

I know I'll be losing some torque, but I know I'll have a longer powerband. And after I sell off the parts I'll only be in 500$ and still have my Entire LS motor to partout or build.

haha, my bad. i had classes to go to. but yeahh, after reading everyone's two cents, ill try to find a b17. if i cant find one, maybe b16. but so the b16 doesn't have the torque that the b18 has? and whats the difference between the b18a and b18b?

B16 = 1.6 litre VTEC - Very little torque, Needs to rev to the moon to have any semblance of speed

B17 = 1.7 litre VTEC - Rare, I don't know much about this engine

B18A/B = 1.8 litre non-VTEC - Commonly used for LS/VTEC and turbo set ups. Cheapest. Most common. Torquiest (of the B, still a torqueless wonder though)

B18C/C1/C5 etc = 1.8 litre VTEC - Most expensive (of the B-series along with the B16B), the best of the B's by far IMO

B16A = 160-170 bhp, 110-116 lb-ft of torque
B16B = 180 bhp, 118 lb-ft torque
B17 = 160 bhp, 117 lb-ft of torque
B18A1/B1 = 130-140 bhp, 120-130 lb-ft of torque
B18C1 = 170 bhp, 128 lb-ft of torque
B18C = 200 bhp, 127 lb-ft of torque

The K-series is another story completely. There's everything from the K20A3-K20A and there are the torquey K24's.

Nothing really, just make sure you have the same obd numbers as the old one, 90/91 obd0, 92&up is obd1, and I think obd2 is like 96 or 97&up, just use your old alternator and dizzy, and you should be good no matter which year of motor you get as far as ls's go, if you go vtec though, that's a whole other story, with 1000 threads about it on here
