Sad Times.

Whether or not your valves are bent is irrelevant. I think you mean valve cover. The fact is if you pull the whole head off, you will be looking at the crankshaft. Try doing research before you get sarcastic.

If I have to replace the valves I dont have to take the head off? Please explain how so. The valve cover only allows access to the the springs and cams. Ive done like six head jobs on different cars I know what I'm talking about. And how is that irrelevant if they are bent. It can cause me to lose compression so, not really, you cant tell if they are seating properly or bent if you cant see the head side of the valve. Im not trying to be rude, but you're so set on proving me wrong.

lol, man... 17 is pretty shitty...

I say run a leak down test and see where you're loosing compression before pulling the head... Could save you some issues. and you're sure the timing is correct?

not sure how you would have bent the valves if the timing isnt off...

dc2b18 - what the hell are you talking about? Since how do you see the crankshaft when you pull a head? You see Pistons, water Jacket, and a couple oil feed lines, plus the entire inside of the head... I perfect time to inspect the valve seats and to see if a valve is bent.

I don't know if you've ever looked inside an engine like that before, but a bent valve doesn't mean you'll see the stem of the valve all jacked up in the guides. Guides are there to actually keep the valves straight, so you wouldn't really know unless you REALLY fucked something up, and at that you'd even hear the difference. Plus the fact that the springs and retainers are covering up the stems anyways. Maybe you should actually pull a motor apart and use some knowledge before you try and attack someone. I did get a good "lol" out of seeing the crankshaft when you pull the head tho, don't worry.

IMO, run a leak down test now and go from there.

I know they are but if the compression is bad that is most likely whats cause the bad times. I know I dont drive that bad ha. And I will do a leak down thanks for the advise guys.

thats what I was thinking as well with the timing being off considering these are interference, but with that if the head was bent on the valve I would think there would be slight knock you know?

knocks are usually in the bottom end over anything tho... and if you already bent the valve, there isn't much noise you'd hear anyways. I'm willing to bet its just something easy like the timing is off by a little and it's opening up the valves a little too soon. that's what a leak down test will tell you tho, when the piston is at top dead center, where the compression is getting out at.

from there you can rotate the engine, or listen in different spots to see where the air is coming from or to see if you can actually seal it off.

do you have a timing light?

but wow those are some terrible times!!!! lol
 With a horrible launch, my bro's worst time was a 16.8, and with a still shitty launch, my bro hit his best of 16.1 (before boost)

Well, good luck man, get your car running good before you race it.......

thats what Im saying I had a near perfect launch and ran shitty you know. something is wrong, and so until its fixes shes outta the season.

You're arguing with him, but helping him at the same time. :p lol.

Wait... What?

Just what are you getting at, huh? If the engine has no pistons, you see the crankshaft j/k. Touche.

I try.

So I did a leak down test, and found out its the rings. So I got the head off cause Im goin to hone the cylinders, when the rings are replaced. have it all done by wed. or thurs.
