Quick question after header install

I installed my Dc sports 4-1 header on my 98 RS the weekend..
I also noticed, I have a Magnaflow Hiflow cat converter, who know!!

Well on the old exhaust manifold there was the metal gasket ring on the end, so I figured it must get re-used, I put it no the dc sports header, put everything together and now i get this buzzing noise when accelerating..

Is it from that metal ring on the outlet or is this the cat's heatshield? What else could it be
Should i of not used the metal ring, and the header would of been a direct bolt onto the cat?

Sadly, I don't know the inlet/outlet size on the header and cat :(

thanks guys

nothing from nowhere
Knock on the exhaust and listen for rattling

The metal ring is an exhaust gasket, it shouldn't rattle at all.

Try tightening the bolts up some

If it sounds like buzzing bees in a can, you have an exhaust leak somewhere. Probably at the collector.

take it to a shop... The place by my house will look at them for free and then tell you if you have any problems or leaks.....

Keep It Clean
Re-using the metal gasket was the problem.

When a gasket is new it is thick, when you tighten up the header-cat bolts you smash that gasket, making a good seal. Since that old gasket was smashed already your not going to get a proper seal. Doesn't matter how much you tighten it.

Same goes to a drian plug, copper crush washer.
