chalk it up to a learning experience.. and that dont look too bad, I think I'll do the same with my PCV valve when I get it back together. But for now my truck is closer to being legal than my car is to running, and I need a vehicle, so im gonna focus on that. Always accepting ideas on the DA though!
Any question ya got ill do my best to answer. i just fully rebuilt mine and its a beast now lol well for a non vtec all motor car lol.

What do you think about upgrading cams and valve train on a non vtec b18? Or should I just look for a b18c?

It would be cheaper in the long run to do a vtec head swap and just throw a good set of cams in it. and i believe you can go up to 10:1 on stock sleeves.

if your idle is still jumping you should check if the TPS is calibrated. the wrong idle voltage will do that.

i just noticed a slight rattle coming from the top of my motor at start up and when reeving. Any clue as too if i may need to get my valves adjusted or should i just rebuild the motor? Motor has 214,000 + miles on a 93 B18A1 motor

FL that could be it. my cylinder 4 was doing 200 psi on compression but would tap whenever it got around 2300 rpm. found that the clearance was .001" too close.

i have this same problem, im gonna go ahead and check my pcv valve also and see what happens. ive gotten throttle bodies, map sensors, iac valves out of the junk yard and switched them out and nothing changed.....i even switched out my intake manifold for another one (a oem one of course) and nothing. im running all new hoses so im pretty sure theres no leak and i compared all my lines to my friends and their all the same. im gonna go ahead and check if it is the pcv and if it is ima be kicking myself for not checking it sooner.

Just try not to break it when you pull it out you should be cool if you replaced the hose it plugs into, but if not I can't think of an easier way to get at it without pulling the intake manifold again.

i checked it out and it seems that its not the root of my problem, while fucking with it i did find an unplugged hose but that didnt really do much either. im starting to give up on solving this myself. ive checked so many things already, i might need to take it to a shop and let them go crazy with it and give it to me back. i guess i should also mention that my ecu is throwing out the code 14 which i believe is the iac valve which i have replaced many times with no results. im starting to get the idea that maybe the cable that connect to the iacv are cut somewhere.....i should check that out

It seems the only thing left to do short of taking it to the shop would be to check the wiring between the IACV and the ECU if the IACV is new and the ECU is throwing that code, a bad connection would certainly cause that.
