Ok we could argue this till the cows come home. yes your right on a true base clear you do not put hardener in the base. however there are some paint systems used by the cheap auto paint shops that are a synthetic enamel. it is a single stage paint that has an optional clear coat that can be sprayed over it if the customer pays extra. In that case the single stage color dose get hardener as well as the clear. I have used that paint before and I am pretty sure that is what happened. In any case it really dosent matter much since I am taking it down to bare metal dosent it make sense to do it the fastest way possible...

For deep rust depending on where it is I would get a patch panel from an junk yard if you can find it cut the section with the rust out and weld the new panel in. But like I said it depends on where it is and how much rust is there.

Lol, I just know that now that I have found out what is on the hood I am in for a lot more work when I do the rest of the car I just hope it comes off as easy as the hood did.. Both quarters the hatch the fenders and the tops of the doors were all painted at the same time. looks like the roof and the bottom of the doors are original paint.

I'm doing a repaint on mine right now I'm finishing priming on Monday. I actually found body filler all up and down my right door and when I took my mirror off I discovered it wasn't oem. Someone forgot to mention the car was in an accident when they sold it to me lol.

^ Haha, I hate body filler. If you take a look at my Jeep build in my signature, which I haven't updated in ages, you can see the inch of body filler I removed to get to bare metal lol.
