nearly ALL the gsr's i've seen blow some black smoke when vtec engages. so yes, i guess you can say it is normal.

i have a gsr and it doesn't blow black smoke, but if any car is blowing black smoke v tec or not i think something has to be wrong with it that is just my opinion

ummm... no the only engines that should be blowing black smoke are OLDER diesels
fixed;)

anyways, it IS somewhat normal..I made a thread about this a while back and someone explained that in older VTEC engines it is completely normal due to the wear and tear already on the cylinders, rings..and such.

constanlty? What color is the smoke?
Just a puff though, just a puff. If your car is like spewing smoke while VTEC is engaged, I'd advise you to check it out.
