Hey everyone a noob here to the honda motors....I just purchased a 1996 GSR has a b18b1 swap converted to vtec. The Vtec is not working i think it is the solenoid not sure though....My question is if all the wiring is there for the vtec how much would it run me at a mechanic to rewire the vtec to working order>???! Help:oops:

I'm a noob too, considering this is my first post but dont GSR's come factory with B18C1's? Why would it have a B18B1?

1. what ecu do you have, p73 or p72 and p28 are vtec p75 is not.
2.ecu is under the glove box on the pannel on the far left of the car take it off and look at the barcode on the ecu

where is your ecu if its not on the right side? it should fit right next to the door. and when you say b18b1 converted to vtec do you mean ls vtec?

The ECU is on the right side under the glove box....the motor code read b18b1 the head is GSR....it has been converted to Vtec...though. But vtec not engaging.

now we have that cleared up. check the ecu tomorrow and get back to us.

but in the mean time if you know, answering these questions will help.

do you throw a code when vtec is supposed to engage
is your car throwing a code at all

^It depends on the shop. Just get a wiring diagram and do it yourself man.

I'm still not convinced it's the solenoid though. Have you checked what ecu you have yet? <---this is crucial, because someone may have converted the non-vtec ecu shittily or something. Also, maybe they didn't use the right harness in the car?

Btw I don't know if you have a GSR either; the GSRs came with the B18C1

nick i think he has a ls vtec and i think its a bad conversion and something isnt engaging vtec. im guessing the ecu or some internals because he has a gsr and gsrs have vtec wired already.
