noob intake question

you need an intake. You need a good intake. Piping is AS important as the filter. Piping may be more important than the filter in some aspects. If you have a shitty bent tube air isnt going to get to your IM even if you have a kn filter
really? so air won't travel through a 4" fucking tube? wow is all i can say, i give up on this site :2confused

most intakes are less than 3 inches in diameter first of all. and yes it does make a difference in maximum flow. theres a difference in the tubing, why are KnN and AEM CARB while other intakes arent? the design of the piping. Why does the V2 make more power than the CAI, tubing design, same with power chamber and CAI.
your move.

Tubing quality and design does matter. Shitty designs will have poorer air velocities. As for AEm V2 i believe the better performance is the the dual chambers, which creates more air pressure and velocity the engine.

the purpose of an intake is to draw cooler air into the engine, because cold air has more oxygen.
you can't just use any freaking pipe you want?!
they're usually aluminum or polyethylene because they're lightweight materials.
SRI's will most likely use warmer air than the CAI beacuse of how close it is to the engine.

Sure you can use what ever you want, but its all about efficiency. Uncle tyrones homemade piping wont be as efficiant as piping that have been bent and crafted to precision.

hmm maybe i'll go get some plumbing pipe and get ol sal down the street to melt it and bend it...

Youre ramming the air into your engine, like i said before you want it to go into there with the best velocity as possible. If theres inperfections in the way the piping is made there will be too much turbulence. Thats why its always better to go with quality.

ok first of all it's a SHORT RAM INTAKE! it's basically 18 inches of mandrel bent pipe, like it makes a fuck on a daily driven b18 we're not trying to race for pinks johnny tran and let's see here i believe there is only one bend in the entire tube that is the same angle as any other manufacturer out there simply because of the components that it has to clear inside the engine bay. maybe bring some toilet paper for the next time you decide to open your mouth. "your move"

if its the same bend on all intake tubes then why does it affect the emissions and has to be a CARB legal part? i dont care if you are in AZ or whereever, the point is the design differs from intake to intake, CARB sticker proves that there is a difference in design of the tubing and the way its bent.
