You'll see HP gains throughout the entire RPM range with either a 4-1 or a 4-2-1. The stock exhaust manifold is very restrictive compared to any aftermarket header (well, almost any).
When talking about all the general brand name headers that bolt up at the stock cat location, the 4-1 will show more gains in the upper RPM's, the 4-2-1 will be stronger in the midrange.
Hybrid headers with longer primaries/secondaries, and a collector that bolt's up beyond the stock cat location can outperform either the 4-1 or the 4-2-1 throughout the RPM range, but are alot of money, and obviously, are more work to install. Not a simple bolt on like your basic DC Sports, Greddy, ect....
