If i'm going to replace my pistons i might aswell rebuild the engine. I'm not really ready to rubuild my engine. I rebuilt and 88 integra engine and it wasn't that bad to do just time consuming. I kinda need to have my car handy so rebuilding it now is kinda out of the question. I'm in the USMC and i'm kinda busy all the time working on helicopters. If i rebuild I will also want to get new seals, bearings, gaskets, the works. Just looking for a cure to my lag problem other than replacing the pistons. Got any help there? Is getting a v-afc and spending 3 hours on the dyno to tune it worth it? Will adjusting my cam deg help the lag problem any? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

your're right my mistake. i was thinking when you hear the engine tone change it was v-tec. the human ear unaided can't hear the vtec cross over at 4400rpm. i was told now to go and buy an s-afc or a v-afc to fix my problem. what do you think about doing this?
STOP ASKING WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE IT SET AT and take it to the dyno and find out for yourself.... " DYNO"

Do you have any fuel tunning device like an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? If you have nothing to adjust fuel and vtec activation or any kind of piggyback to change stock computer settings there is nothing that we can tell you that will fix your problem. I suggest getting a B&M FPR and guage for like 40 bucks so you can adjust your fuel pressure and get either a Vafc or Hondata or Chrome or any program to that effect. The dyno will not fix your lag problem with out the proper ways to adjust anything.

OK, I can understand your situation that rebuilding the motor isn't a possibility right now. You just want a temporary fix to the lag problem, then getting a V-AFC would be the least expensive option of fixing it. But if you want to plan ahead and get a tuning system that you can use on a built engine, then get Hondata, Uberdata or an AEM EMS. They're more expensive than a V-AFC will be, but your not going to be able to tune with the V-AFC on a built engine. You'll be putting your money towards something that'll last and you'll want to keep.
Is it worth it to go to the dyno using a V-AFC? Only if you do some camshaft adjustments with your cam gears. Here are the gains I got on a dyno, tuning with Uberdata, and leaving the cams at stock degree settngs:

Not a whole lot. Like I said, all that was done was a fine tuning of the a/f ratio, they didn't play with the cams.

btw, my dad was a Marine and had the same job you now do. He was stationed in Japan during Vietnam, fixing helicopters. I have huge love and respect for all you guys in the Armed Forces, there's no better friend and no worse enemy than a U.S. Marine.

Thanks man. I'm probably going to be getting a HONDATA system so I can have a system for future upgrades. I appreciate all of your advice. Now for a suspension problem. I have toikico shocks and greedy coil overs and skunk2 camber kit. my car is about 4-5 inches off the ground(from jacking points) i want to go about an inch or 2 lower but my front camber can't be adjusted anymore. can i add another camber kit to it? i have the fork type camber kit in the front.
